Has any of you guys tryed to hollow out the cat but leaving it in the same place so that it looks legal but you still get the performance. I wonder how that would sound hollow.

He couldn't pound out the interior with a digging bar or a long rod & hammer. It isn't worth the trouble. He eventually cut the top side of the CAT off and removed the "guts" and then welded the top back in place. He failed the sniffer test at the next emissions test for his license plate renewal. That's when we did what dpower suggested. Replaceable exhaust parts with flanges. BTW this was on a 4.0L jeep. mahalkita 02-10-2005, 03:37 PM I guess nobody really cares if the cat is there or not - what matters is the proper function of the cat when tested.
