the back seat looks like the same small one out of the quad cab

how about the Nissan Titan inspired front bumper and Dakota inspired headlights?

is it available with a 6.5' and 8' bed?

Couple of questions. Is that what the production truck is going to look like? Any specific dimensions on the interior. What transmissions will be available behind the cummins.

Looks sweet, just need to get a 5 speed Auto to keep up with GM and Ford. I will be looking at all three and possibly 4 (Toyota?). When it comes time to update my ride.

Looks nice except for the ugly chrome piece on the bumper. We don't need anything resembling the awful Nissan grill. Maybe on the sport model it will all be body color with no chrome.

Chrome bumper looks like a fat lip! Headlights look like they are fighting each other for space! Still a cheese-wagon!:muahaha:

Pretty much shuts up the "small rear cab" complaints. It is about time they came on board with a full size crew.

Check out the GPS screen size. All of the compartments in the front for BIG stuff. I actually have them in my junker. Very convenient. I believe they are coming out with a 5-speed auto but I'm not sure when it will be available.

Broker, you need a cup a coffee. Nice hot cup of ..........

How many years did it take Dodge to come out with a real four door truck. It looks almost like they copied off what Kelderman did with his lifted Cummins dually. The headlights resemble a new dakota, alien like.

Looks.. subjective. Some here might say the Chevy is ugly. So what. Curious to see one in person. It's nothing way out there. You could pick apart any styling of any of the trucks.

Truthfully, and hope I don't hurt anyones feelings, it looks better than the Chevy styling.

Look at all the foreign imports. Many of the best sellers are about as ugly and bland as a bar of soap.

How many years did it take for GM to compete with diesels? What's most important? A little extra room in the back or an engine that's up to the task?

i like the center console, as a seat also wish GM could seat 6 with the allison. dont like the dash layout and all the busy trim (wood, shiny/dull plastic). looks like reaching some of the center dash would be tough for those of us with long legs. the bottom front of the center console could be molded differently to be more useful too.

cab does look like a chopped dakota.

i think the back seat looks huge and i also like the storage up front. i think the storage in my chevy sucks = just a big plastic box with a little hole . the front end does look stupid though .

the most important thing is how does it feel on the inside, along with it's capabilities and pricetag. I don't think my 03 is attractive by any means, I like the profiled hood return but don't like the new grille design without that solid bar across the middle with the bowtie.

as i've always said, I'd need to slap together individual components from the big 3 to make my perfect truck, but for now I'll still stick with my Chevy.

The interior still looks cheap compared to the GMC.

That's what a lot of people were saying about the new GM interiors when they came out in 99.

Ends up GM has the nicest of the bunch.

Although I have no direct complaints about the interior in my Dodge, yes they could have stepped up a notch with power on the passenger seat and a little better quality seats overall. The IP and all of the switches and controls, gauges, sound and HVAC so far.. no complaints.

The interior looks cheap compared to GM? GM still has yet to make an interior that even remotely impresses me. Their interiors feel to me like they're built by Fisher-Price. This interior may not be up to the same level as, say, my mom's Infiniti (I would give Ford the thumbs up for best interiors), but it's way better than GM. I like this interior. The seats are very comfy for me.

I have the Premium front seats in my '04.5, and I have the same storage compartments between the front seats as are shown in those pictures. I love it. This truck has lots of room for everything I need.

I agree Dodge should have done something about a crew cab long ago. If they had, I might have bought a used 2nd gen Cummins instead of a new 3rd gen. When I bought my new truck, I was not going to deal with a regular or extended cab again. I'm very happy with my truck.

I agree as well that it's more important to have a competitive diesel than a crew cab, and it took GM a long time to catch up in terms of a diesel engine. Now they have something that can at least pretend to be as good as a Cummins.

The interior looks very nice to me. I hope they made the front seats bigger as half my thigh hangs off the current seat, very uncomfortable. I dont know about the exterior design, the rear portion of the cab does not look very good IMO. That big blank space on the back looks hokey. They should have made the doors bigger to fill up the entire side I think.

:agreed:

What they did was make the rear doors bigger than the previous model AND added space.... they added 20" to the current Quad Cab. Larger doors mean a larger swing ... not necessarily better.

A very nice looking truck! I'm impressed so far. If you could get it with a truly good auto tranny, it might be something I'd consider when my D-Max is ready for retirement.

I don't have blind faith in any of the makers. I felt like Chevy was the best overall, so I bought one. I've seen crappy trucks from all the makers, and I've seen good ones from all.

They used the same bed as the existing Quad cab SB truck.

No dually, no 8ft bed is right Apparently the cab is so big they couldn't do an 8 ft bed. They need the 8 ft bed to do a dually.

Looks like a toothpick on wheels to me.-:t But I am partial to the 2nd gen body style. What ever happened to the wide body with a wide footprint?? Dodge got the other guys running with the 2nd gen body style and now all they do is follow the crowd. Everyone is using the long bed frames, shortening the bed and lengthing the cab in order to fit it all on. Short beds and 5th wheels don't work well togeather. Too bad. Chrysler had done great thing with the new styling in the car dept. Seems like they need to get creative again. :( I'm keeping the 99 thank you. Betty

I totally agree. No 8ft bed = no go for me....and with so little carrying capacity, its no wonder they didnt put an 8ft bed on it. Looks like its just a replacement for the SUVs that can no longer be tax right-downs.

Maybe next year they'll add duallys. We should wait 'till next year (2007) anyway for the clean diesel, that way any mods that the will be necessary will be done by the factory.

Solid axle.....real crew....not the powerjoke that I used to own.... Where was this truck last year when I was buying one. I wouldnt be driving the GMC now if that sucker was out. I am not a big dodge fan at all, but now GM has the smallest crew cab out there in almost every dimenesion. I would love to own one of those beasts.

I don't get it:duh: ..... Why goof such a stout frame with.....seats? I can understand the logic... but hey Dodge..... look at what "YOU" sell. I've seen 100's of guys with Diesel CC SB 4x4's Fords, Chevy's and GMC's and very little Dodges. ....... The fellas over at Dodge need to remember that their sales are for working men and wealthy folks that don't care. They want a work truck or ... a work truck, not a fancy truck. I think this would be a great Idea.........on a suburban plaform but not a truck. I do like it.....but for the masses? I wonder what the resale will be on those trucks? :shake:

Well....... if they really really want that as a go...... it's time for new frames again. They'll need a new body, new styles and a new frame. I wonder how much the tail will stick out in a parking lot?

BTW........ what's the buzz on the MBD 4000?

A black one, 4x4, with the hemi and cloth interior....plenty nice. We couldn't touch it but it did indeed look very roomy. I'd buy one loaded--leather, navigation, DVD...4x4, diesel of course.:D

As much as I loved my '99 ISB and as much as I wanted a CC this size for my family, without an 8' bed, no thanks. The GMC with the Durapad (read-> unimpressive) will have to do for now. DC screwed up again by not offering the right sized CC with the right sized bed. Too bad.

I think it's a nice Idea... IDEA. I just don't see where many people will drive them? If it had a longbox, it would be a different story!

...... You know, I didn't think the CC was such a good Idea about 20 years ago, either. .......Who knows?

Pep, The trans could be better. Long term on a Dodge trans does draw some doubt. However, a built 48re is something quite different. Just ask Smoop.........;)

Stock for stock, you shouldn't have to invest in "building" your transmission just to make it reliable... thats all I was trying to say...

I think the chrome bumper middle looks funky, and the dash as shown could lose the shineyness, but I am sure there will be different trim levels. Like the Navigation system, and instrument cluster. My 03 GMC interior hasn't faired to well, Leather driver seat is ripping, center console just had the top break off, CD player plays sometimes other times its plays the CD real fast like the Chipmunks, at 55,000 miles it should have held up better.

I wish GM would put that much leg room in their 4 doors. Maybe by 2006/2007 they will get a clue. Anybody over 6'2" understands what I'm talking about.
