I got interested in the Hyperpac programmer from Hypertech when I read about it in my Performance Products catalog. The ad did not answer all my questions and nor did a search on numerous truck sites and Hypertech's website so I thought I would give them a call. This is the information I recieved from them that is not stated in the PP add so take it for what its worth.

3 Power levels are +55 HP +75 HP and +89 HP (+160 Torque) on top level.

Unit cannot change power levels on the fly like the Edge Attitude. Must be reprogrammed with each change.

All power levels are safe to tow GM spec tow ratings. Towing higher loads may require EGT gauges to moniter temps.

Unit does not change program or go into safe mode when EGT's get to high like the Attitude does.

Unit (obviously) stays plugged into under dash port to utilize ET (dragstrip), Dyno, and engine monitering capabilities.

Released for 05 Duramax is set for the end of the month.

If the power levels are for real this may be a very nice upgrade for those who don't want to worry about extreme exhaust temps and have a set and forget program. Ability to change shift points, adjust tire size will also be great features that I'm not sure the other programmers do.

I am using the Hypertech III on my 03. In level 1 itmakes the difference of getting over a hill and not getting over the hill. I am pulling over 15,000 of 5th wheel RV and needed a little more push. I also put egT and Boost gages to help in monitoring, but now believe i will need the Banks Engine Retarder with larger exhaust to help in my downhill breaking. Presently downshifts too far on downhill grades to 2nd gear causing engine RPM to go red line. Still working this problem.
The specs that came with my programmer are a little different than yours.
stage 1 +56 HP +94 Torque
stage 2 +77 HP +130 Torque
Stage 3 +96 HP +163 Torque
So far no problems with my unit. Wish it was hot program so could change from program to program without shutting down.

Perfectly normal. I can't remember if it is in the main vehicle owners manual, or the supplementary Duramax engine manual that comes with the trucks when purchased new. You cannot accelerate within that rpm range however, as the computer will not allow any fuel to the injectors.
Just don't let it engine brake within the solid red zone of your tach.

The duramax will up shift by it self at 4500rpm when in the grade braking mode. The hypertech looks to be a great device but at $799.00 you are going to have to really what the bells and whistles to pay that much for less than 100hp. John
