I have been driving the 91 6.2l that i bought, It gets great gas mileage but its so damn slow with my trailer behind it.. Ive been reading a lot of post about getting it more air and have read that you can turn the ip up but cant find anything on how to turn it up...
I was wondering if anyone has tried to do a ram air hood scoop.. and if they have did it help..
My Idea is to install a ram air hood scoop of some kind and then cut the top of the breather so that the breather shows but is still sealed. then i want to ad to the sides to get it close to the hood and pop rivet a rubber seal so that the breather is sealed to the hood..
My other idea is to find a shaker hood scoop like on the old trans am.
What do you all think,, is this a good idea,, Ive got to do something cause its hard to get the truck over 70 pulling with out my truck constantly down shifting

Hope you mean fuel mileage, cause Diesel's don' need no steenkin' gas!!!!

May be some info in FAQ's on reworkin the factory air system for more cool air by deepening the air filter housing, stacking two filter elements inside, running dual snorkels with dryer duct to the front , behind the headlites - that's plenty cool air flow for a 6.2.

Prolly only thing that will really help is a used Bank's turbo kit, or if your '91 is same body style as the '95, install the 6.5 turbo\exhausts - just no hot-rodding with it, as the factory 6.2 pistons aren't designed for intense turbo service.

okeydokey, Thanks for the link ,very helpful..

What about timing when i first started driving the truck it sometimes sounded like it was spark knocking and friend told me it needed to be advanced.

gmctd, I dont want to take anything off my 6.5l she is still running just needs some tlc But if money gets better i do want to install a turbo on the 6.2l but not for hot-rodding just for more pull power

I have turned up the injector pump on my truck and installed a home made ram air set up. It helped but didn't solve the power problem.

Naw, Cj - I just meant to find a turbo from another truck and install it on your '91 - the Banks setup is prolly what you need, tho
