I took the IH 484 out today and after its good and hot the oil pressure drops to 10psi at idle, is that normal? At higher rpms its at 40psi and cold its always at 60.

unhook the oil line at block and put in another gauge to verify the first one is OK.

what weight oil are you running?

I don't have a book on that tractor but a manual may tell what the spec is, some have pretty low pressure at idle.

BTW is your idle speed in spec?

My idle speed I think is about 650 which whould be about right. Ill look in my manual but its about worthless. My gauge goes in increments of 20 and its between 0 and 20. Id like to find a smaller gauge.
