so i am in the process of installing sc III, 1056, transgo jr. going out clubbing tonight then finishing tomorrow. but anyways my point is my c3s especially and a little on c4s were starting to burn. i have just been running 75 to 100 hp with 35s and about 1000K of tools in the bed for work. So my other point is.. if you are adding power, add to you your tranny!!!!

Thanks MIKE L. for all the tips and pointers on the install!!!!!! YOU DA MAN!!!!

Im wondering how mine will look. I run the standard PPE on level 5. Stock tranny BUT........I have no fuel rail pressure...my brothers stock duramax keeps up right along side me. I wonder if my clutches will be burnt up at all? shifts fine, never limped

A standard tuner only has 4 levels so they must have put a 5th level on yours that is stock power.

My set up is identical to what you will be doing.....I could not be happier:D. And, when Mike and Sal pulled my C3's out....it had burn spots in 3 different places. Never limped, no noticeable slip or any indication it was going.

Cant go wrong with Mike L . , Your talking to the best trans guy in the business .

And yes you can have spotted C3's with out limping the truck . Seen it many times .

The newer 6 speeds have some upgrades from factory and dont limp as easy as the 5 speeds did .

Personally I think all the trucks should upgrade the trans period , even stock . Its always a great idea for the life of your trans . Your adding more clutches , more line pressure and cooling , and doing a better converter . Add the bigger trans cooler while your at it too . Doing the Transmission is the best mod for a truck if you ask me.

Its the heart of putting the power to the ground . :thumb:

I ran a 450 rwhp tune for only 3500 miles or so and my C3 and C4 clutches were burnt, however I never limped the truck. Damage can be done!

Cant wait to see Twisters clutches :D

Dont know if anyone caught it where I said I HAVE LOW RAIL PRESSURE. Of course the clutches could be burnt with no limpage. Even with the PPE one level 5 my brothers stock duramax can keep up if not pass me. My injector pump is bad. Im just curious to see what my clutches look like when I do the whole shin dig. The tuner is in perfect working order.

Have you shimmed your (PRV)pressure relief valve yet , that is a must .

Change fuel filter at shorter intervals when running tuning also .

A lift pump will help keep the fuel to cp3 , plus there is a kit to help upgrade your cp3 while you have it out if your doing that soon . Make it flow more .

Also heard there is a larger inlet fitting coming out for inlet on cp3's .

Good Luck , Hope you get your rail pressure issue figured out .

Yea ive had the low rail pressure problem since ive owned the truck, way before I owned the tuner. Its a LB7. But speaking of stock alli's holding up. A buddy of mine visited last night and he had just came back from jegs with a newly purchased superchips stacked with his edge. I told him to take the superchips out so I could hook up my PPE standard. The truck is a 03 dually CCLB. Of course he wanted to put it on level 5 and he kept his edge on level 5. Im surprised how long the tranny took to limp. We drove around town bellowing smoke all over, holding it to the floor and it worked fine. That is until we got on the freeway about an hour later. He decided to cover a newer vette in soot while we were merging, which triggered the vette driver to get on it to pass up. And sure enough.....the 4-5 upshift and BOOM limped it haha. I am impressed though with how that big truck was hanging with the vette.Buddy already took the superchips back today and is searching for a PPE tuner. And trans.

If my tranny lasts until its time I can actually afford to do it.(I may be forced to and just have to eat bread and water) I would like to take my truck and see how much the Ally will hold. Just keep adding more and more till it wont hold any more. It has held up to this point 40k miles with over 425RWHP and still keeps tickin.

The 6 speeds definately hold more power than the 5 speeds do. The last trans I took apart was in an 06 LBZ and had 30k miles on it with the PPE 160hp tune on it. The C3 clutches were pretty well glazed and the steels even had heat scoring on them, and this trans had never been limped. My own trans (5 speed) C3's were well toasted, but I knew I was putting my trans in soon so I was mean to it before that, but once again never limped.:D
