Long story short. When converting from dino to synthetic gear lube in front differential, I was also changing the black differential cap for the "white" cap.
:(Wellllllll, I cross-threaded the new cap. So my ????? is what is the purpose of the newer white cap as opposed to the older style black cap. The local dealer told me that the new caps metal breather is weighted because the older style plastic one sometimes got stuck pointing upwards allowing gear lube to be blown out the breather tube.
Is this the only difference? I swapped out the metal breather the plastic one and changed the O-ring as well and put the old (modified) black cap back in . Just wanted to make sure that what the dealer told me was correct.
Thanks in advance.
