Since dumping my front bumper which had the factory fog lights in it, I want to use the switch for a set of back up lights. What is the MAX wattage I can run with the switch.
I was looking at the PIAA 1500.

Anybody used this switch for other than factory lights?

I installed the high beam lights (9006) in my fogs with no issues at all.

Why don't you rewire it to trip a relay to run the backup lights? That way you can run some bigger wire all the way back there to power those lights and not worry about the switch. Just find one of the hot leads for the old fogs and use that for the relays switch :grd:

WAskier,
Well that was my thought. I was going to look for the power wire in the harness heading forward and hook relay in there. The switch would be just that ...a switch. PIAA supplies a nice harness, so the switch supplied I can cut off and wire into the OEM switch. I was just curious if someone knew if that OEM switch had a relay or was basically a straight wire to lamps, just fused.

no need to add another relay as the OEM has a relay in the under hood fuse box
just run the fog light wires to the back insted of the front.
just go and:grd:

GearHead,
Thanks. That was the info I was looking for. I knew someone has played with the wiring on the truck. Just need the wires from the Lamps and run them to the rear.
