I have a Curtis snowplow system on my truck. Does anybody know if the V2 cooling system will fit with my permanently mounted plow carriage?

I'm talking about the $930 unit from TxC.

Might PM TxC directly - he may be your only source for a straight answer on this one... good luck!

Thanks Randy...but I tried that already. Its apparent he does not know for sure either. And "maybe" isn't a good enough answer for me. I'm not about to order it, have it delivered, and come to find out that it won't fit without major mods. I'm a furniture builder, not an auto tech.:)

I would agree 100% - wouldn't want to make that kind of investment without a sure answer. Hope you can find the information you're looking for. If TxC doesn't know, then it's likely that nobody else will know either. Good luck!

Maybe you can ask TxC in more generic terms. Find out how much clearance the V2 needs to be mounted, then measure your snow plow to see if you have the clearance TxC says you need. Or take some pics from underneath, and send them to Chris. Like Randy said, I think Chris is going to be the only one on the planet who can give you a 100% answer.

Good luck,

Joseph

Also post up some pics of the area under the radiator. Maybe we can help from the pics.

Okay...that's what Chris asked as well (that I send him a few pictures). I guess that I'll give it a whirl and see what you guys think. Stand-by for pics.

Can you get me a pic of where the square tube intersects with the frame bracket?

Rick,

The problem is getting back far enough to produce a wide angle photo. I think I'd have to get the truck lifted up in order to get the picture you're looking for.

Furthermore, if there is ANY doubt whether or not the V2 will fit with my plow set-up, this whole discussion is over. Like I said above, I'm not an auto tech, and if the V2 is not going to be 'plug and play,' I'll just go to plan B. I guess that I'm a little surprised more folks with snowplows don't have a V2. I thought surely the answer to this dilemma would be a quick 'yes' or 'no.'

Thanks for trying though:)

No, its not going to fit. The square tube that crosses in front of the round crossbar is living right where the V2 passes through.

We have fit them on trucks with plows but they didn't have bars running acoss the frame like that. Further, I can tell that the flat plating welded under the square tube that runs forward is way narrower than the V2.

Thanks Chris. Will any of your other cooling products fit that will at least help out a little bit? I've only pulled my big toy hauler up big hills once and that was in OATs in the 70s. No alarms, but the temp gauge went pretty high. I suspect that when temps hit the 90s, things will be different.

Will an auxilliary fan help? Bigger TC? EOC? I'm sure you've been over this many times in the past, but I don't feel like reading through 500 posts to find out:)

I was hoping for a pick of that intersection. I wonder if that square tube could be cut out and relocated below the frame mount brackets?

That might allow the needed clearance, if we can make sure the plow frame strength is still good.

I truly appreciate the thoughts, Rick, but 'I ain't goin' there,' if ya know what I mean. If this was a woodshop challenge, I'm there (I'm a furniture builder/cabinet maker), but I have NO interest in paying someone to retrofit the V2 to my current set-up.

Maybe I'll look into getting a bigger TC, or doing an EOC. I don't live in a particularly hot climate, and have had no problems with over-heating to date. I was just thinking of heading off any problems before they become reality.

Thanks a lot gentlemen!!
