Hi Group,

I'm wondering if anyone knows a good mechanic at one of the dealers in West Virginia or one close to the border in an adjoining state. I really have no need for one yet. I have owned about 20 new vehicles to date and nothing compares to the Duramax/Allsion in a GM truck.

I really enjoy this site and spend way too much time here reading and learning.

Thanks a lot for all of the good information.

Jim

Hello, I am in WV as well. Welcome to the group. What part of WV are you from, once I know that I can help direct you into the direction of a good garage.

I live in central West Virginia near Clarksburg. I got my truck from Tom Peden in Riply and it's a long drive for me to go there. I'm not even sure that they have a good mechanic for our trucks there. Any help would be appreciated! As I said before I really enjoy this group and learned a lot already. It's also a good source to get parts for my truck. I got excellent service from John Kennedy's business.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

I am in Martinsburg, in the eastern panhandle. So you are about 3 hours from me. I travel alot in that area and from the people I talk to the chevy dealer there in Fairmont has a reputation. And for me the are 6-speed freindly. Hope this helped.

Drew,

What is the dealer's name in that area? I have two kids going to Fairmont State and I'm in that area a good bit. What is the mechanics name at the dealership? It's much better for me to go there than to Ripley. Do you ever have them do any of your service work?

Do you know of any other members that live in WV? This seems like a very knowledgeable site with a great bunch of people.

I don't know the mechanic's name, but I think the dealership name is Anthony Chevy or something to that nature. It is on the road right behind the school if memory serves me right. I was actually going to buy my 05 there but the local dealer ordered this one to my specs. My little sister goes to school up there that how I found out about it. No I haven't had any work done there, but if I was in the area I would definatly go there before anywere else. My local chevy dealer here in Martinsburg treats me really good, but I also do ALOT of business with them

Drew,

I checked and Anthony is the name of the dealership. I will check them out and see what kind of services they offer there for my truck. How many miles do you have on your truck. I wish that mine had been black but the price was too good on this one to go looking somewhere else. I got my Amsoil in today, so I will change it and the fuel filter this weekend. Do you do your own service work or go to the dealer?

Thanks for your time,
Jim

Well I bought mine September 28 and it has about 13,500 miles. Well I do a little of both somethings I do myself something I farm out . Just depends on the job and how I feel about doing it.

Do you do your own fuel filter? I don't worry about anything other than making sure that I get that right. I'm going to print the directions that posted here that were very detailed and see if I can't do it on my own this time. I have about 11,000 miles on my truck and I got it in the middle of October. I pulled my 31' 5ver with it and it really did a terrific job. Hope that everything continues that way with the truck. Got to go and I want to thank you for your time.

Any time Jim that what we are here for. No the fuel filiter is a pain in my book, if you have big hands like I do it's just as easy to find a buddy with smaller hands. But if I had to I would do it myself over paying the dealer.

I'm going to see if my hands will get in that tight space this weekend. I hope to get all of my work done so that I can play with it some on Sunday. I'm going to print the detailed instructions on the fuel filter change and see if that will get me through it.
