Does any one know if you can cheat the computer on the banks 6 w/speed loader by just hooking up the egt probe but not putting it in? Cause when I put the banks system in my truck I already had a probe in the manifold so i just spliced it into that one. I hit 1500 degrees sled pulling and then the banks defuels. So I was wondering if any one has tried this or if it works?

Why not just change the temp that the Banks will defuel at?

it probably won't go any higher. my edge would stop at 1500 when i had it.

I don't have the pda.

The temp probe has to see at least 400 degrees before Banks will turn on. If you can find a place to put it that will go above 400 it will work.

You could fake it out by connecting a small DC voltage to the probe input terminals on the Banks. On a type K thermocouple 500 degF corresponds to about 9.5 millivolts DC. 1000 degF would be about 21.25 millivolts DC. Anything in between those numbers should work. You'd probably still want to have a gauge connected to the real probe so you can keep track of the actual temperature though.

maybe try moving it post-turbo.

Yea, put it in the down pipe. Have a bung welded in as close to the turbo as possible.

Thanks guys good info. I was thinking of putting it after the turbo but I didn't want another hole in the exhaust.

I know a few guys that have taken bailing wire, and tied the probe to the exhaust manifold.they said it worked fine that way.

Personaly, if you're trying to work around Banks' safety limits it might be time to step up to a PPE. But i would just drill a hole in the downpipe right after the v-band and put a plug in the manifold.
