Anybody got and ideas on this.................... I used the tractor yester day to load my sh!t spreader and go spread some fields. I used it flawlessly with no problems what so ever and parked it in the barn when i was finished. Today I go to get on it, I start ist up fine and the damn thing wont go into forward or reverse. The reverser lever comes out of park almost to the neutral position and is it is stuck and in wil not move to the forward or reverse position.. I find this wierd as I had no problems when I parked it. let me nkow if you have and ideas

figured out that there are two cable connected to the powr reverser lever. One is dedicted to the parking mechanism and one is for forward and reverse. Cables are working fine seems somethen interbale is wrong with the parking unit to keep it stuck in park.

If you go under the dash and disconnect the parking cable it should shift fine had to do this to my dads(had to do this to my dads (2 months after I split it in half(( 2 months out of warrenty)) to replace $12.00 gasket went forward backwards rehooked park cable and adjusted no problem since. If you unhooked the parking cable their is an internal spring that holds the parking pawl back from the drive gear If you pull upper gas tank (where you fill it) and look to the right you see the parking mech. (dad's tractor is a JD 4520 which I believe is like yours, but, 1 size smaller:mad:) I hope this was helpful  P.S. If went to the dealer what was cost? Thanks, Chris

I'm not familiar with the cable ones but some are electric and they can go bad . Ours did in our 6410. Had to take the steering collumn all apart to put a new one in and it was like $680 .
