I wasn't exactly happy with my first attempt at fender flares for my heavily cut front fenders. So I am taking another wack at it. Here are some pics of the latest rev in clay. I will be doing the fiberglass later today. I think they match the Bushwacker rear cutouts a lot better.

Comments? Suggestions?

Someone suggested putting a marker light in the flare.

i was worndering don't the bushwacker cut outs from the 99-silverado work on the newer trucks. because i have cut outs on my 2000 and it looks like they would fit but i never tryed. and the ones you made look good just like the bushwackers.

The Bushwackers do fit the 2004s, but I have cut even more than the Bushwackers can cover behind the wheel. (almost 2" more) Plus they would not cover the tires I have on. (365/65-16's) Its put me between a rock and a hard place.

I would have gladly put them on if they would have done the job.

Give me at least 1" more tire coverage and of course, deal with the extra cutting I did between the door and the wheel.:)

I don't have any lift. Not even the torsion bars cranked. Though I would like to crank it a little to take out some of the rake. Ground clearance hasn't been a big issue since I put on the big tires.

They look like they match pretty well. Are they pretty close to the door when it's opened? How much would a set like that cost? Those tires were 36 inch weren't they? Or was it 34?

Tires are just under 35" tall, but tread is about 13" wide. If you look in the picture from the side, you can see that the flare overlaps the door seam by a bit. The door tucks in there when it opens, so there are no rubs. When I stayed away from the seam it looked unbalanced.

Fiberglass skin is done, off the truck and clayed removed. I'll stiffen up the edges and maybe thicken the skin tomorrow, then mount it. I'll take a pic or two with it mounted. Will have to let the skin rest a few days before I start finishing the surface. Been fun so far and no major glitches.

what is the total coverage from a body with out flares? Without flares, I have 4" of tread sticking out. The Bushwacker cutouts gave about 3" coverge and the ones I am making give me 4".

Here is a pic of the Bushwackers

and mine.

Keep in mind my tire is at least 4" wider than the one in the bushwacker photo.

Having seen the new revision up close, I think that you've definitely "nailed" it versus the first attempt. Show us the driver's side when you get back to it.

Someone suggested putting a marker light in the flare. Still do. Just think about how many times the Bushwacker folks might have to explain that, "I don't know what you saw, but a side marker light is not an option!" ;)

Hey bro, ORU(offroadunlimited) has a leveling kit for the chevy ifs trucks that is very in-expensive(65-70.00 I think). Crankin those bars will make susp wear faster and ride quality will suffer a little.

That leveling kit just allows you to crank it farther and does the same exact thing... It's just a set of green keys, do a search on green keys and see how many arguments you find...
