I have been looking to get a turbo timer for my 02 Duramax and was wondering if any manufacturer makes a wiring harness that will plug right in to my existing wiring harness. Any help in this area would be apreciated. Thank You.

I have one thats based on time. i bought it because I can leave the truck running withthe keys out and jump back in and take off. Its not plug and play, you have to use scotchlocks that are supplied or solder it like I did. Easy install. Mines been working well since I bought the truck. turbo diesel lifesaver by name. a search on the web should be able to score something. If you decide to get one PM me.....there is a wierd thing I found out with it that may send you for a loop but once you figure it out its no big deal

What brand timer did you use. Can you just use one of the sport compact style ones or do you need a specific model? I am also very curious about this "wierd thing you found out". Either go into some detail or send me a link to let me know.

turbo diesel lifesaver is the name on it. sold a couple of differnt places. a search of the net should come up with some hits. if you cant find a place to buy it leme know......I may be able to find the paperwork were I got mine.

If you yank the key with the thing set and hop back in and turn the key on and tap the brakes to deactivate it you need to wait a few seconds. Otherwise when you go to take off it will freak out the trans:confused: Duno why:confused: If you have a attitude display and you look at the converter slip display it will show all wonky till its ready to be placed in gear. No attitude just wait a bit before you put it in gear.

1/2 the reason i bought it is so i could set it and get out of the truck with it locked and even if someone broke in as soon as they hit the brakes the truck dies. Better than carrying 2 keys so you can run into pay at the gas station or run into your house to grab something.

I didnt buy from these guys.....also it appears that now they are more "plug and play" I had to splice or tie in a few wires

Or install a remote start and kill two birds with one stone. You get the advantage of starting your truck from inside on a cold day, plus most of the better ones have a turbo cool down feature. I have a Compustar. Nice unit. I can also get out of the truck, leave it running, take my keys, and lock the door. Or I can do the turbo cool down thing. It also is an alarm.
Just be sure do get a good place to install. That is the single most important thing. Astrostart or Copmustar are the two better ones that guys are running. Viper and Audiovox are a few others.
