More importantly, who lifts because it's high?:D

Mine has been anywhere between 14-1800 when hooked to a sled. Usually in that range. The drag strip is much worse on mine for EGTs.

How hot is it when it points to the "E" in pyrometer? That's about how high mine got.

Pegs the gauge 75 feet down the track, stays there till pull is over. 150 hooks later, no damage from high egt's.

By reading this I'm understanding 2 things I should do... 1) Get rid of the Edge 2) Meanwhile, while I still have the Edge...crank up the EGT/backdown limiter to around 1800 and I won't have much to worry about in such a short amount of time.

Pegs a 1600* guage at about 100 feet. ignorance is bliss, unplug the damn thing or ignore it :).

You shouldnt turn up your back downs they should be turned off while pulling or racing to get best performance.

K you guys can make fun all you want I know I have the banks 6 gun w/speed loader:lol:. I hit 1500 around 150 or 200 feet when truck pulling and no thats not how far i make it. Most of the time they let us run around 280' or 290' before the sled stops us. By the way I know..... I'm getting the ppe hot+2

I have seen 1800+ but my gauge only goes to 1500 and its pegged out almost instantly. New turbo will be going on in a couple of weeks to lower them down to around 1500 I hope.

If everyone is sharing EGTs I can hit 1800-2000 by 90 mph on the street and only 1600 pulling the sled.

No, then you add more fuel and you're right back to the same EGTs.:D

:lol:I am going to try not give it much more fuel only enough to make about 550 hp, stock rods won't like it.:D

I have yet to ever look at my pyro while sled pulling. Not long enough to worry about and to much going on to pay attention anyway. If the tip of the stack is glowing red does that mean it's hot.:D J/K

Not sure on my duramax but my 01 cummins would peg the 1800dg. gauge at about 75 foot. After the first pull i never looked at it again.

I can see 1400 easilly towing if I let it I could easily peg 1600. I don't even look when pulling a sled.

Like it makes a diff, not like anyones going to let off.

I agree with this but I am looking into ways to reduce them because 2000* is a place where bad things happen. If 1600* at the end of the pull is what I hope this setup will do. Right now I hit 1700* at 100' and I worry to much about these pistons.

I've only looked a few times. I've seen it on "t" of pyrometer though, and that wasn't at the end of the track. Don't worry about the pistons - they make new ones. ;)

I've seen (in my videos) a mysterious light above my front tires (glowing exhaust manifolds at the night pulls) and a cherry out the tips of the stacks - I'd say it's hot.

With my edge i have glanced down before and seen 2200 that was with edge and ppe hot +2 stacked

My my current efi live tow tune 13.20@ 105 mph i only hit around 1350 - 1400. There are a couple mods done to the truck for it to run cooler:D
