I have a 97 s-10 Blazer 4dr 4x4 150K daily driver, no towing, but a front brakes only last me 11/2 or 2 years max. 4x4 4.3. 3 years ago, I notice that the fluid seemed to have metal flakes in it like al most made it look like pearl in paint. Therefore, I bled out the fluid. Last week the fluid was black I do not check it very often and there was a dark film in the reservoir. After cleaning the reservoir bleeding the brakes may have not gotten all the old out its black already may not be as dark but still black. Any ideas? My only suggestion would be to pressure bleed system, fluid under normal use can become discolored. Some of the properties of brake fluid are to remove moisture and contaminates from the system, which may be the cause of the dark fluid.

Pretty common for Blazer/GM vehicle. You can do a pressure bleed. Do the brakes feel ok?

My brake pedal might be a little soft. A shop looked at it and said it was from O-rings decaying. Would it work for me to bleed the system out a few more times or should a shop pressure bleed it? I ask because I'm yet to find a shop I trust to work on my Blazer.

You can bleed the system out, but did you ever price out a new master cylinder? I really dont think they are to much money for that vehicle. They do wear with age and heat. So if you do a lot of stop and go, I would consider going that route.
