My names is Kane and I am EXTREMELY interested in this 2001 chevy 3500 LS 4x4 manual 4 door dually 6.6L and it has 142000 miles on it and i was wondering what to look out for in that year and style also the guy is asking 13900 so i really cant go wrong with the price i think. Also its a texas truck so no salt has eaten away at the truck. Let me know what you guys think I am kinda new to the diesel world and wondering if this would be a good reliable truck to start off with. And i know the LB7 was the first year for duramax so not sure if there is any problems with that particular year. ANy infromation would be greatly appreciated thanks.

head gaskets and injectors are probably the 2 most common problems. Search for tuners or signs of a tuner(EGT probe), or any possible signs of abuse. Other than that I'd personally keep looking price is very fair, but I've got this funny feeling you'll start seeing more and more diesels going up for sale over the next few months.

i have an 01 and it has 192,000 miles on it. I bought it with 160,000 at $13,000 which is very fair. But my tranny went out 2 weeks ago and it costed me 4 grand to drop a brand new allision in. The belt tensioner went out but that was an easy fix! I love my truck and would not trade it for anything!

Injectors are a HUGE issue with this truck. I would do a VIN check here on this site. Its free. See if injectors or any other BIg things have been done, at a stealership. 2 i personnally would not be scared. Ive owned 2 LB7s and have maney friends with them. Very good trucks! And p.s. welcome to the site. You can learn ALOT here about these trucks.

We just bought(yesterday) our first duramax 03 2500 CC 4wd auto, It is great, with all options, 74,000 miles for $21k. It is spotless. Dark grey in color, I'm ready to the mods.
I got service history report and it had a few warranty items, like tail gate cables, starter, some wire, reset compass/thermometer? and intermediate steering shaft.
I've heard a lot of complaints about the steering shaft going "clunk".
Hope this helps

injectors, injectors, injectors, injectors. seriously,if it were me I would stay away from all lb7's. mine is part of the family so I can't get rid of it. it's also a great work truck. if you really want an lb7 I would look for an 03 or 04. you'll have a little more injector warranty time left, and like was stated before head gaskets were also an issue with the 01's.

If this is a private sale, ask for maintenance records.
