ok, here's the problem. Every time i hook up a trailer, after about 10 miles or so, I loose the power brake feel in the pedal. (this does happen on occasion without a trailer as well) I have to stand on the brakes to stop and they feel very hard with no "pedal Feel". This has been going on since my truck had @2000 miles. I took it in once, but of course the dealer couldn't duplicate the problem. Has anybody else had this problem or am I the only lucky one. Thanks for the help, Troy.

You probably have a defective hydro-boost unit on your brakes. There is a recall on this and you should take it to your dealer immediately.

go to teh dealer ASAP...if you lose your brakes WITHOUT towing then I would NOT be towing anything until its fixed. I can just picture what could happen.. get it to the dealer!!!

I was just through the same problem and finally got it fixed, 4 tries.

1st time I was towing 14,500 # trailer and running 60 mph, good thing I got a little leg strength.

It seemed to happen once a week, towing or driving, usually only for 6 to 10 brake applies the it was ok.

Wouldn't happen at the dealer so it did it one day coming home from work.
Called dealer and then called customer service and they sent a roll back to haul it to dealer.
that way it still did it when it got there and GM finally authorized a hydro boost.

Been ok for 3 weeks now.

Old GM's had that problem, but I thought they cured it a long time ago. If you are using the brakes a lot, it is possible that you are boiling the brake fluid. Look at the fluid real close, if it is slightly off color or smelly, change it for some hi temp stuff.

Dmax tim, your problem is exactly what my problem is. One day, all i was doing was driving on back roads, (no trailer) and it started. I was going to wait until it did it again and take it right to the dealer. But, I'll call them today and get it scheduled. Thanks for the help guys!:ro) I'm new here and this site is full of knowledge!:)

I called my dealer and GM customer service. They both said there is no recall on my truck. Must be on 1500 and burbans, because I just saw the brake recall on the news about a hour ago. They will not fix unless they can duplicate the problem while in service. This is Bulls@#t! Any body want to buy a 04 CC LT HD?:o:

Hence my comment about getting it to do it and call customer service and tell them brakes are out .
They sent a flatbed out to take it to the dealer.
It took 3 trips to dealer, the third one they flatbedded it from my house and since it was still doing it finally got GM to send the part.
Had to take it back the next week after the part came in.

It only did it while towing and/or some heavy foot level 4 or 5 juice playing ( the worst time to loose powerbrakes too).

It isn't fluid boiling.

GM just announced a recall on that problem. Contact your dealer for a schedule to fix

The dealer is the last to know about most recalls. The nightly news first, owners second, then the Dealers. Go figure? Only then they gear up for the needed parts.

Personally, I have not checked mine out either. Seems that my truck got parked for the winter in the garage, and there is always a car behind it. But you can bet your last Krispy Kream that before I go trailering this spring, I will ask the dealer about it.
