Hi guys,
I'm looking at buying a used IP from someone local, and he says the IP is a 'blue tag' pump.
What does that mean?
Sincerely,
Rob ;)

I think a blue tag means it hasn't been re manufactured. Red means it HAS been re manned.

Thanks, that is helpful. Does anyone know how much it costs to bench-test these units?
Thanks,
Rob :)

I've been told a green tag means a reman circa 1997 or later. I was quoted $200.00 to bench test a pump last week by the local Stan outfit here, but they had to ship it to Tampa (150 miles, closest test facility) to do it. So that may have added a few $$.
Edit, Oh, and they would "credit" the $200.00 to any reman work needed, if any.....Why do I think it would be needed? Maybe I'm just getting to cynical in my old age...

Stanadyne Inj Pumps had black labels for many years - infant-mortality problems with the newly-released DS4 EFI IP resulted in several running production changes, field-modifiable - to indicate the upgrades, a green aluminum tag (like the old pop-a-top pull-tabs on beer cans and coke cans) was issued, to be attached to one of the cover-mounting screws on the top of the IP - to differentiate new factory versions from the field- and factory-upgraded versions, a new blue label was issued - some blue-labels left the production line with the green tags, to indicate official factory upgrades, vs the official green-tagged field upgrades to pre-owned black label IP's - later, the green tags were discontinued, and blue labels were shipped to the field shops to indicate upgraded IP's, with a 'special' prefix - later, or maybe all along, red labels were issued to indicate rebuilt\refurbished
Hmmmm.......that pop-a-top scenario just reminded me: time fer a cool one..............

Green label nameplates are new Stanadyne factory pumps.
I'd pass on a blue nameplate as that is an old pump.
