i am asking for brother in law. he has 05 duramax crewcab longbox. he brought a b&w gooseneck hide a hitch to install. the problem is there two cross members about a foot apart above the axle. i have a 04 crewcab short box and looking at top of the tire i have one cross member above the axle. he has been told, some chevys have one or two cross members above the axle. does anyone know why that may be?:rolleyes:

The 3500 long box has the extra member. Due to supply chain issues, some 2500s recieved the 3500 box. IIRC, there are two different goosenecks to address the discrepancy.
