Mi 04 2500 HD has a slight vibration and Howling noise at 45and60mph. It goes away when I take it out of overdrive. It is 10 times worse when I put it in 4 wheel high. The truck has 8K on it . Any ideas before I take it in. Thanks for any input, Troy.

Mine has it ~58 mph and sounds worse when it is in 4wd at ~58 mph. I think it is just all the harmonic frequencies coming together to make the drone. When you take it out of O/D, it changes the engine rpm's and the frequency. I think that it would take something to absorb or cancel the frequency to get the fix.

4WD is much noisier on this truck, especially at HWY speed than any other truck I've owned. I'm told this is normal for HD. I haven't noticed any noise/vibration in 2WD. I have 25k miles on the truck and do a lot of HWY driving.

I've had a 2000 3/4 ton 6.0L, 2001 HD 3/4 8.1L and now an HD Duramax. They've all had slight vibration/howling at 55-65mph in 4wd. Nothing in 2wd, though.
