Just installed Ultralite II gauge with socal diesel intake manifold and it seems to surge i guess like it gets up to 20-25 psi and she will suddenly drop a little bit does not seem to work right also sprayed all connections with soap and water to find leaks, i did and used pipe dope goop, and then resprayed every thing and does not leak but it still surges

With the VVT it doesn't take much to make the guage go up and down very rappidly. Only way mine holds, is to pull a load and go uphill, but it's not for long, any throttle position change, changes the boost.

LIke i mean it will move very rapidly like its jerky it will up to 25psi and drop then back up

Check and make sure you have a good ground. Mine was doing something similar and it was a ground issue.

x2 on the ground if you are not seeing normal VVT fluctuations.

Let's continue the discussion in Interior.

Okay well its not electronic gauge its an tube gauge actual air from intake to gauge also, the vvt will surge because its a vvt its always try to adjust right?

Also, make sure there aren't any crimps in the tubing....just a thought..:D

okay sorry to bug you again, i put a fitting to it and regulator and some air, it sticks on the way down at about 25-22 psi and some other spots just to say alittle bit. but i think i found the problem, or is there a breakin period? and i did look for any crimps.... And thanks every one for there in puts

Mine throttling up is jerky at about 15, 22 25 psi.
I think it's the VVT on mine. I thought I had a crimp in the cable but I can't find one anywhere.

I have to lean towards yes. I've been through 3 gauges on this truck. The first one because I upgraded to the ultralite II's. The second because the first Ultralite II gauge was making noises on deceleration, and this one. They've all done that.
I've been through EVERY peice of hose I can find in the boost tube, even changed the boost tube tubing to air bag lines and it still does it.

lol, shut up hammer. Do the LB7's have variable turbos? and if so, does your do something close to what me and him are experiencing?

Thanks.

Re: the turbo..dunno..

I don't experience any surging, or sticking..when the turbo builds boost, the needle goes up smoothly, same when the boost drops..:D

Hope you guys get your problem sorted out..

okay well i called auto meter and they said there going to test my gauges to see if there is anything wrong. than the tech told me that the gauge would i guess flutter so what the do is they mod the gauge so its not so sensative and it will be smooth, thats what the tech at auto meter said
