Where is the best place to get an Amsoil Dual Bypass Filter setup? And which one would I need for my truck? Thanks.

Kennedy sells them or as he used to..assume he still handles Amsoil products---if not other supporting vendors do.

If you use Amsoil oil, it may pay you to become a preferred customer. For $20 a year you can buy the products at dealer cost. Go to their website and check it out. I use enough oil in all my vehicles to make it worth it. You can place orders on their site as well.

Gunbunny,

There was an Amsoil vendor at the Quartzsite, Az RV show a couple of weeks ago that had one on display. Here are the numbers:

BMK-17 - Bypass unit kit. Comes with the dual filter head unit, hoses, adaptor for where the current filter attaches, and the following two filters for the bypass unit:

BE-100 - Bypass filter
SDF-26 - Full flow filter

He also had on display a custom mounting backet just for the Duramax, for 55 bucks. He did mention that a couple of 90 degree elbows may be required, but he was not sure. He also had an optional valve tap on the end of the bypass unit for taking oil samples.

You do not show a location, but this guy was out of Or. and he does ship. There are supporting vendors for Amsoil (Lubrication Specialist, Greg L., at WWW.lubricationspecialistllc.com) on this site that should be able to help you. If not, then send me a PM if you need more info and I will find his business card.

Go to the Amsoil website there are some pictures of the dual filter setup that another dealer used on a 2002 crew cab.

I believe this is a link to the photos of the 2002 install:

http://www.amsoil.com/bypassfilters/preston/index.aspx

In one of the photos, it looks like there is a 90 degree bend in the oil lines, but then it looks like a gentle curve in another photo??? I guess the first photo (actually the second physical photo) is just a strange camera angle.

Here is a recent post that also has some good photos of an install and it lists part numbers for various filter options. Greg L. posted a note that he also sells a mounting bracket for $25. I haven't seen it, so I do not know if it is the same one that I saw in Quartzsite.

We sell wholesale to everyone with out being a preffered customer. The bracket I sell will bolt to the frame. Bolting it to the bottom of the floor pan you can get some noise that you might not like. Many here have mounted it to the floor pan only later moving it to the frame.

Greg ... How about posting a picture of the bracket on your web site. Better yet, post some additional pictures of it installed on your truck. I am assuming you have installed it on your truck ... right???

I would like to know if the filters are above the cross member and out of the way, or do they stick down low enough to get banged when on two tracker roads.

Thanks!

I have installed several systems on Duramax trucks but not on my own yet. Have not really had the time to get it done. I think I have some pics of and install I just have to locate them. They are even with the bottom of the frame. I do have the system on my 95 and could take a picture of that but on that truck the frame is a inch or so smaller and the rounded part of the bottom of the filter is below the frame.

Greg ... Sounds like the old story of the shoe maker's kids going without shoes.

If you have a picture of just the bracket to post, that would be great. Ultimately, it would be even better if you could also post some shots of it installed on a Duramax. Maybe this is the motivation you need to "Git-R-Done!

(When you said the filters do not stick out below the frame, I am assuming this is with the medium size filters that come with the kit. Please let me know if that is wrong.)

Thanks for the update.
