Hey all, my name is James and I am a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI and this past weekend I made one of the best purchases ever. I sucked it up, took out a loan, and bought me a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. Its got a 6.0L Gasser (yeah I know...I would have loved a diesel, but I don't tow enough to justify it :D). Its all stock, and needs a bit of work, but I am very happy with it so far. I heard that this was a good place to go for information on these trucks, so I hope it delivers.

Got a hell of a deal on it, mainly because it has a number of small issues that don't need to be addressed, but I will because I am anal.

Here is what I will be fixing on it

Exhaust manifold leaks on number 8 cylinder, so I'll be replacing both gaskets just to be safe.

Driver's door speaker doesn't work

The little keeper lever going into the driver's door is missing

A couple lights inside the radio are burnt out

Rubber covers for the brake and emergency brake pedals is missing

Rear bumper is bent. Looks like it got backed into something, yet the bumper isn't dented. :dunno:

Exterior needs a good buff job

The "map light" button is not working on the driver's side in the center console

Shifter is a bit loose. Probably worn inside the console. Might pull it apart...not sure.

Basically all the doors other than the driver's door has a somewhat sticky handle, probably due to no one using the other doors.
Other than that, the truck is nice. There are a few scratches, and small dents here and there, which I fully expected, and am OK with because I do not want to be ultra paranoid with it, as I do park this thing on campus and am sure to get a door ding at some point. the largest dent is on the lower rear 1/4 by the bumper (pic) and the largest scratch is on the hood (pic). All in all, I am happy with this truck, and I finally have a truck I should be OK with keeping for more than the 8 months I have been averaging since I was 16
