Looking at buying a new Duramax 05 2500 extended cab. I am a little concerned about the interior quality of the truck?
I know the Engine and trans is outstanding. Worrying about the rest of the truck. I don't want to spend time in the dealership.

I personally think that GM has the best fit and finish out of the big 3. I have not heard any complaints about it at all and I couldn't be happier with mine.

You can have problems with any vehicle. Our last GM (Trailblaizer EXT) had many problems...misaligned doors causing air leaks, defective body trim that broke 3 times (liftgate panel), missing "standard" equipment. This GM is PERFECT! Much better quality than the previous. Good Luck.:)

GM has the best interior quality in my opinion hands down.

I have an '05 GMC. The "tightest" vehicle I have ever owned, hands down! No wind noise, no squeaks, no rattles, just quiet.

Another ditto :exactly:. Closest I've had as a problem is the rubber outside door moldings. And all was replaced by GM.

I think if your looking for comfort and options.. you can't beat a GMC!

I am really impressed with the fit and finish on my 2004 GMC. Compared to my 2000 Silverado this truck is a LOT tighter and higher quality. They have tightened up this interior a bunch since it was new, and it wasn't really that bad in the first place.

Perfect? No! But it is pretty darn good. Remember, GM has been building this body for about five years now, so the buggs are pretty much out of it. Having said all that, is the interior dated? You bet it is. But it is comfortable for most people. Only real complaint I have it that the drivers seat is a bit short on the back for me. It hits me right at the top of the shoulder blade, especially if the head rest is down. The head rest really needs more height, but there I go complaining about small things

I have a few minor issues that eventually need to be addressed, but at 9,000 miles my truck has yet to see the shop. My last 3 Chevy trucks never went in for warranty work. My mid to late '90's trucks were in the shop mainly for front axle seals (which only lasted about 20K back then).

I also love the interior of my truck, but...

I've had one speaker, a dash light burned out, four clusters, and the steering shaft replaced. I still like the GM over the others.

My 2004.5 GMC SLT is the tightest truck I've ever owned, and I've had plenty. I got rid of a 2004 Dodge w/Hemi with only 9,000 miles on it. It had many rattle-squeak issues.....I couldn't take it, so I dumped it and got the GMC. The GMC is miles ahead in all areas including fit and finish.

FIELD EAGLE, I also say that we build the best of the best. I worked there for 37 yrs. & if you have any problems, we will drive in the front door with yours & out the back door with a new one. HE! HE! Howard

No squeaks or rattles yet. 34500 miles. I believe that the leather bucket seats in these trucks are one of the most comfortable in the industry.

Fit and Finish-Excellent. Been over some pretty rough rutted roads and no squeeks or rattles. Think mine was bolted together on a good day. Totally more than satisfied.

My 05 has a rattle at 70 mph that sounds like a squirrel is in my dash board......driving me freaking nuts!

Quietest interior of any truck I owned, but I wouldn't say it is great fit and finish compared to today's cars (i.e. Honda or Audi). Some of the plastics remind me of my kid's fisher price toys. Overall, love the truck though and it has quality where it counts.

My 00 1/2 ton silverado dash rattled
03 2500Hd silverado dash rattled right away off the dealers lot
05 GMC 2500HD tight and quiet, excellent fit and finish.

My 2004 is so-so. It definitely has more squeeks and rattles than my 2002 Ext cab did. I still think GM is the best but damn, that 2002 was the best I had....Tight and all of the lighting options...Miss that truck....

Have a 2000 extended cab (not Crew) that has been trouble free

I had a 2000 ext gasser---rattled in the dash and behind the rear bench seat. The seats were comfortable but the leather was cheap...it cracked and tore. I did take care of it.

My 2004 CrewCab rattled in the dash---discovered it was behind the glovebox. The leather seats are very comfortable--but again they cracked and the dealer has agreed to fix it. I have small squeaks in the door rest and the handle in front of the passenger seat. My 1998 Tahoe leather seats were not as comfortable but they withstood the abuse and looked great. I missed that Tahoe interior--tight as a drum.

I guess if the tolerances stack up in your favor you get a tight interior...if not you get squeaks and rattles.
