: Predator Users - Where do you store your tuner?
skoryaro2 02-07-2005, 09:55 AM Well, you guys did it to me again! After much research, and waiting on Edge to fix the LLY problems, I decided to order the Predator and did so from one of our vendors here (can't wait until it's delivered). I think it will serve me well.
My question(s): Where do you store your tuner? In the truck? Out of the truck? Any worries about storing it in cold / hot temps if stored in the truck? Is the unit itself durable?
I'd like to leave mine stored in the truck (thinking about behind the rear seat in bubble wrap in it's box). I'd like to have it with me all the time in the event I have a problem on the road (I can revert back to stock before a dealer trip) or if I need to decrease power for towing unexpectedly.
Any comments / suggestions?
Thanks!
Rob
dmaxfan 02-07-2005, 10:01 AM I leave mine under the back seat.
partsguy662 02-07-2005, 10:09 AM I caught hell for saying this in another thread, but I keep mine in the truck as well.. If you're not in the backwoods like I am, you might want to find a place to creatively hide it away from prying eyes looking into your cab when you're not around it...

I remember that thread. I am in the backwoods so that's why I'd like to leave it in the truck
I leave mine under the back seat.
On a side note: Why aren't you two "on duty" fighting for the "cause" :)
arcticman 02-07-2005, 10:17 AM I have mine in padded camera bag . Pull strait up on your cup holder in the center console and theres more than enough room for the predator. Thats where mines at.Good luck.

I have a bench seat - no center console - but that's a great tip for someome else :)
lbz492 02-07-2005, 10:29 AM i keep mine in the truck under the rear seat and in the same box it came in.
RickDLance 02-07-2005, 10:31 AM I just leave mine in the console. If you didn't keep it with you how would you remove the program if your truck broke down and had to go to the dealer, or at the least, you need to read some codes??

I agree, and those were my thoughts also. Being that it's gonna be new to me though I didn't know if keeping it in the truck like I wanted was going to be a good idea (durability wise) so I thought I'd better ask for advice.
D_Maximus 02-07-2005, 11:03 AM Psssst...
You'd find mine under my rear seat in the original package.
Shhhh, Don't tell anyone.
mick14 02-07-2005, 11:21 AM original box under rear.........seat that is

I like this location, tried to pull my cup holder out and it wouldn't budge! Did you do something special to get it out? I currently store mine in the center console but it's a real tight fit.
akdiesel 02-07-2005, 12:05 PM Storyaro2,
Why don't you just come out with it and just ask where people in MI keep there Preditor so that when you need to use it you can just swing by and grab it?):h

I am not sure if you have to take the rubber pads out of yours to expose a screw holding it down.

When listing where you keep it, please provide your address and where you keep your hidden truck key..........

D_Maximus 02-07-2005, 12:52 PM Now you've got me wondering...
Let's say I've installed a tune with the Predator, and then placed it under my back seat.
And just for arguments sake, let's say Daurand comes trotting along and borrows it without tellilng me.:Nonono:
Daurand takes it home, it won't work on his truck, because it's already locked to mine, so he got nothing out of the deal.
How would I ever reprogram my truck without THE unit that programmed it?

IIRC you would have to make a trip back to the dealer and have them reprogram it back to stock via the Tech II for about $125
BTW - All the more reason to stay on Daurand's good side :)

I guess I better keep mine in the lockable storage box under my rear bench!:)
gtguy67 02-07-2005, 09:37 PM I bought a cheapo large pistol case for the Predator and keep it under the rear seat.
arcticman 02-07-2005, 10:03 PM Enigma i just grabed it in the center and pulled strait up, I really dont think it would break but do at your own risk.

arcticman,
Thanks, went outside and did just that, pulled directly from the center and pop out it came! Earlier I was trying to pull from the front, no-go... that is a great spot for the Predator, mine now has a new home :D
Pro400exc 02-08-2005, 11:50 PM Wow...you guys treat it like its gold.....I just throw it in my glove compartment along w/ the stock chevy booklet....thats about it....
someitmes i hold the plug and swing it around my head and pretend i am a cowboy lassoin a hog,lmao..
NCMIC 02-09-2005, 02:29 AM mine is in the storage box under my back seat. it is lockable and i always lock it when going to dealer for anything.
mgmack 02-09-2005, 08:28 PM I guess I should put it in its original box. that would give it some protection against being thrown around the underseat storage box.
