Lookin' for some expert advice and hoping this is the right topic area...:help2:

The idea of a programmer/code reader like the Predator product is very appealing. I've seen on these boards folks referring to code P-xxxx...how does a FNG like myself determine what those codes mean? Is there a guide or some way that I can better educate myself? I think my 2004.5 might have some issues or at the very least I am considering the re-flash. I probably have set some codes, as I've done the EGR blocker plate mod and will return it to stock before I take the truck in and would like to clear any existing codes and get a better understanding of what is going on.

Also, I've read where guys are reading the balance rates of their injectors and would like to know what I need to do to go about that AND if it could be done with the Predator or some other affordable diagnostic tool and how to interpret the data.

Thanks  :o:

The DIY forum HERE (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22718) lists the DTC codes. You can use the Predator to read and clear the codes as well as check your balance rates.

Cool. Thanks.

What would I be looking for as far as balance rates goes? I assume that the Predator just spits out data and does not have a message like: YOUR #3 INJECTOR IS BAD so I would need to know how to interpret the data.

There was some previous discussion here about what to look for when checking your balance rates. I printed out a copy. It described how to check your rates with the predator and how to interpret them. Do a search and you should be able to come up with the info.

Thanks!

I guess I'm feeling especially lazy this morning because I would usually use the search feature.:o:
