i might have missed readin it somewhere on here, but has anybody ever seen a DB2 swapped in for a DS4? i don't know if it is possible or not. is it possible to use the electric throttle or would a cable have to be installed? the reason i ask is a guy at the local tractor dealer has a db2 that he would give to me for pretty cheap.

so much information runnin through my head right now...........

If it is a DB2-4911, snap it up - that is for the non-EFI 6.5L turbo motor - uses the oem throttle cable\pedal off the 82-92 mech inj trucks.
Requires injector pipes specific to that series pump.

well ill have to go do some talkin with him and see what it is. i know he has an 85 or 86 truck that had a 6.2 and now has a 6.5 in it. the 6.2 had a cracked block so i would assume that the pump would be ok still.

i bet that pedal would bolt right in place on my 97 and im sure the injector lines would be no big deal. what about the computer?

You might have to splice in three wires to the tranny input on the ECM. These 12v wires will have to be resisted to match the signal the tranny is looking for.

im gonna call around to a couple of shops and see if anybody has ever done this conversion.

the pedal tps you have currently will need to stay because you have an automatic as well as adding a cable to operate the db2 linkage. i'm still gathering parts for the same conversion. SLOW has done this conversion but i'm not sure if he ever got some other tranny issues worked out. if you had a manual trans you could drop kick your ecm and the conversion would be much more strait forward.

on edit-- do you think i said conversion enough times?

'91 to '95 mech inj trucks\vans had a stand-alone TCM for the 4L80E, with throttle input module on the IP.

Several a\m vendors support the system as stand-alone upgrade for amy vehicle.

Trying to run such a system off the oem PCM would result in all the EFI DTC's, SES\STS indicators always on, etc.

i plan on tracing the ses lamp circuit and putting a quick disco under the dash so i won't have to look at it all the time but can still hook it back up to check trans code if i need to.

In Federal inspection states, the SES\STS indicators must be functional - they illuminate when the ign is on, they go off when the engine is running.
If not - FAIL.

If they illuminate while the test is running - FAIL.

2006 will require full emissions testing of all highway-driven Diesel-engined vehicles.

Forum traffic will be up by several orders of magnitude, across all the forums, on that day.

My truck, considered commercial app by clearance lites and dual rear wheels, is currenty subject to complete state vehicle safety inspection spot-check by Tex Hwy Patrol troopers - anytime I'm driving outside of city limits on a state hiway.
