EGR blocker - cleaner intake, lower EGT's, quicker response, and quite often better mpg's. If you have an FE9 truck, you likely won't require a finger stick. Finger stick keeps the CEL/SES in check if you don't have an FE9 truck. Hope this helps...
CHEVYJEFF 04-15-2008, 02:19 PM I just did the egr blocker/fingerstick combined with the pcv re-route and mbrp cat-less down pipe on my 04.5 lly and the throttle response is much faster. No more turbo lag. Plus it sounds really good now and I know the turbo and engine are much happier w/ out that emission b.s. fouling up the air charge

Ditto. Just put my exhaust on 2 weeks ago. Spools like a jet helicopter... and pretty much sounds like one too when I romp on it. :D
RoadRunnerTR21 04-16-2008, 05:29 AM X3. I put mine on a few months ago. People turn and look at me in parking lots and parking garages.
doniphanrhino 04-16-2008, 09:01 AM I have the DiabloSport Predator 2.02 ,turbo back 4in. ,cold air kit. If I use a EGR block plate will I need the finger stick or did the DiabloSport Predator 2.02 turn off the EGR allready, have not seen any codes yet. I hate to CUT WIRES if I don't have to.
KevinsDMAX 04-16-2008, 09:39 AM Doni,
The predator 2.02 will remove the CEL if you block the EGR.

How can I check to see if my truck is a FE9?
ickman99 04-16-2008, 06:47 PM Check the sticker in the glove box, you should see the FE9 code in there.
callie454 04-16-2008, 07:10 PM OK, sorry, I should have asked what FE9 represents, obviously a production order code, but for what option, or lack of...
bnunez 04-16-2008, 07:25 PM Said to gain 2-3 mpg and 30 hp.
RoadRunnerTR21 04-17-2008, 05:27 AM FE9 means you have Federal Emissions and NOT California or the North East. That's a good thing.
RoadRunnerTR21 04-17-2008, 05:29 AM Said to gain 2-3 mpg and 30 hp.
I don't know about that. 2-3 mpg gain is a bit over the top. I picked up 3/4 of a mpg.

I picked up 8 or 9... but laid 'em down somewhere. Now I can't find 'em... :cookoo:

johnsonmatt 04-17-2008, 02:14 PM I have my blocker plate and finger stick ready to go on, just not sure I trust myself to wire the fingerstick up. Was going to try and install it couple weeks ago, but the injecter harness issue, got me scared. So maybe I will try to install soon, with diesel prices I'm all for getting better mileage

Will Bonner 04-17-2008, 06:40 PM I made and installed my blocker plate yesterday. I'm not sure about the mpg yet, but there is definitely an improvement in pick up. I'm not smoking tires or going into hyper-drive, but it does get down the road a little quicker.:D
Will the mpg pick up a little more as time goes on(computer resetting itself and the crap burning out)or is it what you see is what you get?
Where is the egr plug located? Is it necessary to disconnect? I'm not showing any codes. No stick installed.
pmdickso 04-24-2008, 05:06 PM has anyone had any problems due to having a blocker plate or fingered?
drew1234567 04-24-2008, 05:49 PM My 65 HP tune doesn't blow any black smoke anymore. I guess I'm running around in stealth mode.
Like everyone else no improvement in MPG but turbo spools faster.
BBTOM 04-25-2008, 04:53 PM Instaled Blocker Plate Today And Check Engine Light Came On Had Garage Next Door Turn Light Off He Said It Was Low Turbo Bust Mass Air Flow And Egr. Gues I Need Finger Stick
mule21 04-25-2008, 06:32 PM Does the PPE programmer turn off the egr, when the blocker plate is used?
Clubbervon 04-25-2008, 10:19 PM where at in the glovebox is the FE9 sticker where do I look and if I have that I don't need a fingerstick?
dardoin 04-25-2008, 11:04 PM look in the bottom of glove box. there is about 7 or 8 rows of 3digit letters & numbers. look on the 1st row 3rd from top it should say FE9
RoadRunnerTR21 04-26-2008, 07:44 AM If it does not have FE9, it should have either NE1 or YF5.
Desipha 04-26-2008, 07:36 PM I have a FE9, and the blocker plate that I haven't installed yet, do I still need to un-plug the EGR?
randy_the_hack 04-27-2008, 02:00 AM I have a FE9, and the blocker plate that I haven't installed yet, do I still need to un-plug the EGR?
You ALWAYS want to block the EGR, and you OUGHT to unplug it... On an FE9 truck, you won't need a finger stick. If you want the ability to keep the EGR functional, leave it plugged in - it shouldn't make any difference.
rkymtnman 04-28-2008, 12:49 PM Any issues passing emissions tests with the EGR blocked? We have to have yearly emissions tests here in parts of the front range of colorado to get our over-priced registration each year.
TIA

Don't know... but once you block it, it's not too hard to break the bolts free again to just slip it out before you go in for your test. Considering the functionality of the EGR on the LLY, I'd bet it's a roll of the dice as to whether it passes with the EGR blocked.
pmdickso 04-28-2008, 07:47 PM where is the best place to get a blocker plate? And are there any downsides to one or anything you should watch/worry about with it blocked?
Will Bonner 04-28-2008, 09:52 PM Go to this link print out the pic, paste it on a piece of 1/16" steel, cut it out with a jig saw, clean it up with a file and install it. Took me every bit of 45 mins. If you have FE9 you more than likely won't have any codes. My truck never ran so good. Only wish I did 50k miles ago. BTW the lines are 1" apart.

hondarider552 04-28-2008, 11:59 PM you cannot tell if your truck runs better, nor feel it, its just the thought of it running better because all of the smoke we blow out, never goes back in..
BradG 04-30-2008, 10:54 AM I have a 2003.5 LLY. Going to put a blocker plate on this weekend. Two questions:
1. How probable is it that my truck will throw codes (definately, roll of the dice, prob. not, etc)?
2. I have ODB2 cable and software for my laptop - can't I just flush those codes before going to the dealer?

if your truck is a FE9 code truck it most likely wont throw any codes..mine is and it didnt throw any, but i put in the finger stick just in case.. look in your glove box for fe9 or cali emissions. if your truck is a cali emissions truck it will throw a code.

If you go to the vendor list and look up kennedy sales. They sale them,
and have a nice little FAQ section on it. It will tell you exactly what it is and does. Your truck being a FE9 i don't think you'll need it but from what i hear some do, mine didn't but it's all piece of mind, if it will help you sleep better @ night or if you do end up throwing a code, get it.

My truck throws an egr code, but does not set the check engine light. So I see no reason to finger it.
05 gray ghost 05-01-2008, 11:58 AM Looked in glove box and 1st column 3rd down mine is FT2. I can't find EF9 OR NE1 OR YF5 anywhere.
sburdy 06-07-2008, 08:08 PM My first row third number down is FT3???????????
PoPsRacing 06-07-2008, 09:03 PM 2nd row from the right, 2nd number down.
sburdy 06-07-2008, 10:10 PM I was a bit confused.
Thank you for your help.:)
I guess I will make the plate and install it and hope I don't need a finger stick.
Finally put in a blocker plate today.
Checked for codes with the Dashhawk I just got this week.
It set a low flow code but I did not get a light. Just what I expected with a FE9 truck.
When I cleared the code and cranked her up I got another low flow code as I expected and this time got the light on the dash. (WTF)
I don't know if clearing the code some how reset the warning parameters or if it was just going to happen sooner or later.
Spent the afternoon putting in the Finger Stick.
I was planning on installing it anyway just to clear the hidden code.
Thanks minisub for the DIY. Can't tell it's there and no more hidden codes or lights.
Life is good
George Bryce 06-14-2008, 08:15 AM Great! Can you tell a diiference and how much?
Thanks for all the input....great info site!

No... you need a finger stick to keep the light off. Check out Kennedy Diesel - they sell 'em, along with blocker plates. I think they get something like $55 for both. Good luck!
koolk10 06-19-2008, 08:34 PM 2nd row from the right, 2nd number down.
mine says dpf looked on the air box says California emissions, gues its finger stick time..i don't like the idea of cutting the harness
Jeffalb 06-28-2008, 04:28 PM I'm thinking about doing the egr blocker in my 05 lly. Are there two nuts and two bolts to take out to remove the flange to install the plate? Also can I do this with common tools? Like a ratchet and sockets or are specialty tools required. And has anybody had any leaks? Thanks.

You have to remove 2 nuts, they can be a bear I have heard. I sprayed some wd-40 on them a day previous and had no problems. You should only need some common hand tools for the install. I haven't had any leaks and I only used the factory gasket. Hope this helps.

I thought the same thing, but it isn't that bad. If you take your time it will turn out okay.
