: Diesel fuel in the oil!
cujo 436 02-06-2005, 11:25 PM 2001 duramax with 60000 miles. Dealer replaced #6 injector at about 45000 miles. Today I ran out to a job site and noticed the engine idle was rough. Pull over and open the hood to see oil mixed with diesel pouring out from under the truck. I called the wrecker and towed her to the dealer. Left the key in the drop slot, and will call the service dept in the morning. The engine is stock. Fuel filter changed regularly. Any advice before I talk to the dealer?
cujo 436 02-07-2005, 10:15 AM I saw the Dealer at 8am this morning. Service writer says they will only replace injectors as they go bad on my 01 duramax. I know I've read that GM says to replace all 8. Is there any service bulletin or documentation on this? Help me Please.
Also service writer says no to a loaner truck. Thanks for any assistance.
lupey6.5 02-07-2005, 10:27 AM call the 1-800 # in your owners manual or someone here can find it for you. tell them what is going on and what dealer it is at and what they are telling you. GM will contact the dealer and straiten them out. the TSB section on this site has the most updated injector info.
GMC-2002-Dmax 02-07-2005, 10:31 AM 2001 duramax with 60000 miles. Dealer replaced #6 injector at about 45000 miles. Today I ran out to a job site and noticed the engine idle was rough. The Injector policy requires that you have all 8 replaced and the warranyty is for 7yrs/200K miles and the $100 deductable is waived.............probably get a loaner car/truck as well..........
I have the injector policy and any tech can give you a copy.
Stand Firm or goto another dealer.............sounds like this one is not one I want working on my truck..

cujo 436 02-07-2005, 10:37 AM Thanks, I will call them, but first I'd like something to back up my claim that all 8 injectors should be replaced on a 2001 with 60000 miles.
cujo 436 02-07-2005, 11:03 AM I have the letter from GM. No where in the letter does it state that they will replace all 8 injectors at once. Here's what the letter states: General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the fuel injectors. If this condition occurs on your 2001 GMC Sierra, equipped with a 6.6L Duramax Diesel engine, within 7 years of the date your vehicle was orginally placed in service or 200,000 miles whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge.
GMC-2002-Dmax 02-07-2005, 11:27 AM The written policy is not that all 8 NOT get replaced at once for the LLY's but it is been all 8 USUALLY on the LB7's. Everyone that I know that has an LB7 has gotten all 8 done recently with the newer design.
I beleive GM wants them replaced as a set...........I would not allow them to do anything BUT ALL 8...............GM,......... I do not think wants to eat the labor 2 or 3 times on the same truck because UNCHANGED original injectors in the future are failing. 7yrs and 200K is a long time to warranty a part.
Hope that helps clear up any comfusion.

cujo 436 02-07-2005, 12:27 PM Well, I searched the tsb area of this web site and found the updated service bulletin, 04-06-04-007c dated Nov 10,04. All 8 injectors are to be replaced. Also I called customer service and they spoke to the service manager at the dealership. He indicated that they would replace all 8 injectors. Case closed. Thanks Guys!!!!
Sam Ryan 03-06-2005, 06:19 PM Duramax warranty to 250K miles, on the way!
The bad news is that the resale value of these DUHramax :muahaha:lemons are dropping like rocks. :(
dmaxalliTech 03-06-2005, 06:21 PM The Special Policy details the reasons for replacement of all 8 injectors. Fuel in the oil DOES qualify for replacement of all 8
dale25 03-07-2005, 07:42 AM the special policy is only for high return rates and YES that should be covered!!!
Scott C 03-11-2005, 04:14 PM I appreciate the help gmc2002dmax. Mine is getting all 8 right now and they were trying to charge me 100.00. A quick call to GM got it all taken care of.

The injector warranty of 7yrs/200k miles applies only to the '01's & '02's? The '03's and up are only covered by the 5yr/100k mile engine warranty with the $100 deductible? Do they replace all the injectors on the '03's and newer when an injector goes bad? At what production point did the factory start putting in the new style injectors? Just curious if my early '03 has the old style '01 & '02 injectors. Thanks for any answers.
