Hi all,

I just got my Retrax installed and had a question. It seems kind of hard to pull out and push in. It is not binding anywhere that I can tell. I have read you should almost be able to do it with one finger. Do I need to adjust the side rails a little more, or does it just need a little time to get loosened up ? I feel as though I have the side rails pretty close per the instructions..

You should have about a 1/4 inch side to side play. It will loosen up with time. You can also take some fine sand paper and clean the paint overspray on the inside bottom of the rails. Then wipe it clean. That should help some too.

Thanx for the info, I will double check my side to side movement and also check the over-spray.

What Max Power said; get the rails lined up and check the tracks. I had this problem when I first installed mine and rather than wait for it to wear in the sandpaper cleaned it up quick, doesn't take much and makes it smoooooth!

Sandpaper worked wonders for smoothing it out.

However, this weekend I discovered that mine has too much side to side play and when all the way to one side it is starting to come out of the opposite side. My guess is that I installed when warm and now that it is cold the cover has shrunk slightly and is a little too loose. I am going to try and readjust for about 3/16 or so side to side when it is about 50 degress. I think (based on absolutely nothing definitive) that this will allow it to expand and contract as needed and still function smoothly.
