Well, it finally happened. I was riding with my Dad in his DMax and he got on it to pass someone in tow/haul and the tranny downshifted and started to pull but then it lost power momentarily and came back but would not shift anymore. (It stayed in one gear) The little engine icon in the top left of the gauge cluster came on also. I told him to pull over and shut down the truck and wait a minute and when he cranked it back up it ran normal with the exception of the engine icon which still appeared. This morning when he got in it the light was gone. Was this what you guys call limping the tranny? Just for info, the truck is an '04 LB7 with J/A and a predator set on 65hp. Juice was on 3 at the time but has been run on 5 before many times with no problem. If this was a limp, does htis mean that it will get easier and easier to limp as time goes on? He's gonna get a tranny upgrade but we're both just wondering what actually happened and what to expect.

Thanks,
Adam

You limped it and yes it will get easier to limp it the more you overpower the tranny. I'd stick to less than 90hp added over stock until the tranny gets upgraded. Just my .02.

I had the same experience today on my way home from work, my only concern is that I'm still running stock. I was getting ready to order the juice on Friday but starting to have second thought after limping on stock power, guess I may have to go see Eric first.

I friend of mine I spoke to today has a 04.5 LLY with 17K. I told me that he was towing a car ( less then 4K lbs) and the tranny locked up until he pulled over and let it chill for a bit. This has happened to him a few times. From what I have learned on this forum it sounds like he limped it STOCK! What is with this tranny???? Sounds like the factory needs to offer a high performance tranny upgrade option!!!

Talk to me....

What do you offer? Got plenty of vehicles to drag race and this one isn't one! Want to throw 90-100 +/- down the road and don't want to even see the word limp. Excuse me for not know but what do you do?

At 23,500 miles when my truck was totaly stock, I had just delivered a small escavator and was heading home, truck was running great. Pulling away from a stop light at about 35 I put my foot a little into it, there was a loud clunk, loss of power momentarily so I let off on the peddle. I continued home but the tranny was stuck in 3rd gear. Took to dealer and they found pieces of clutch material in the tranny fluid, so they rebuilt the tranny. Dealer said it was uncommon occurance with the Alison tranny. This was before I discoverd "The Diesel Place" and now I know a lot more about what really happened. However I am suprised that I could "limp" the tranny stock and not even using WOT. I am hoping there was just a bad clutch and the new parts are better than the original ones!

Been running Juice/Attitude for a month now with no problems.
