Was just wondering if there are any long term engine effects to running the high HP tunes all the time. Like running the 120hp Predator tune if your run about 95% of the time just normal driving? I have the 120 tune in now, and it runs really nice just under normal driving conditions vs the other tunes. Nice off idle to mid throttle acceleration and smoothness. I do the occational romp, but not often at all. Or is it just better to keep the lower hp tunes in all the time. Just curious. Thanks.

all in all i think its too early to tell if and what the long term effects might be as all this new power has only really been happening with the dmax for 18 months ?? IMO, anytime you increase HP, Fuel, PSI, etc, that it should have some type of long term effect but how much ? im not sure, maybe its a difference of more tuneups, lubes, filters, general maintenance, etc ? maybe instead of getting xx amount of miles out of the truck you get xx amount less ? again, who knows. I do know that the more you really hammer the chit out of your truck and flog it at all times that it will certainly decrease something, but again, how much - who knows ? and for alot of people who maintain and check there engines out thoroughly on a regular basis and do all the work themselves that its probably a minor trade-off for the increase in performance, and of course if your just running high tunes and driving it fast and hammering from time to time, and not really abusing it, that it should be less problems. I like to go over everything in my truck on a more regular basis, checking everything out, chaning oil, filters, diagnostics, etc., to be on the safe side and see what might be happening, then you can stay one step ahead, atleast thats what im hoping for

Oops, just read the previous predator post with the same question. Haha. Yeah, I do my own work also and will eventually do the Alli upgrade. I like over engineered and un-necessary vs just barely getting by with what I got. Thanks for the info.

Time will tell, but it makes sense that increased wear depends on how often you dip into the power. Just having the potential can't hurt too much. I Juiced mine for towing, which for a recreational RVer isn't nearly as much as I'd like. But even then I'm driving conservatively and using the power to maintain speeds where I couldn't before and accelerating with a bit more determination. Most places I drive the traffic is so bad, day or night that I can't romp on it even when I want to.

I have run with the Quad 215 stacked with Edge/Attitude, set on 0, all the time, since last spring. Before I ran with the Edge HJ on 125hp setting all the time for a full year.
I have had no problems unless you count the Suncoast Stage II tranny I "hurt" with the Quad and Edge stacked. :o: I blame that one on myself.

One is limited with the stock tranny. I haven't heard of hurting the engine with high hp tunes in any way with "normal" driving.
