The mirror on my driver's side door does not have any tension on it. I bought the truck like this and the owner told me that a spring was missing. Should I take a trip to the dealer to see if they have the spring? Also, where is the spring located and any repair advice would be appreciated.

One more thing, is it easy to change from the chrome mirror fascia (?) piece to a black one?

I assume you have non-towing mirrors. Are you talking about "tension" where the mirrors swivel point is (as when it folds inward)?

I'm having the same problem on my wife's '01 Yukon and am wondering if I'll have to replace the whole mirror. The mirror is loose and will separate from the mounting bracket just by lifting upward.

Yes, I have the non-towing mirrors with the swivel point problem.

Anybody? Does the mirror come apart so the spring can be replaced or does the whole mirror need to be replaced?

Anyone have an answer to the mirror problem? A worker at my local car wash noticed my mirror was loose and said there is a tsb on the mirror issue and that I need to replace a clip. HELP:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Mine just broke the same way. Did you find anything?
