A friend has a 6.2 and wants to know if there is an easy way to put in a high idle. thanks for the help and info.

Since it's a mechanical linkage, all you have to do is have a mechanism that holds the throttle out abit, like the fast idle for cold advance. I have a little 12v solenoid that when powered pulls an adjustable cable. I could see how something like this would allow you to have a fast idle at the flip of a switch.

The 6.2 has a fast idle solenoid mounted on the fuel injection pump. You can adjust the rod (that goes thru the solenoid) to raise or lower the idle speed. The idle speed may be low due to the adjusting nut backing off. I had to adjust mine last year (first time since new in 1984). I do have a manual switch on mine since I don't have a computer. I also have a manual switch on the timing advance as well as the glowplug relay.
