I just bought a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax with 38000 miles. The engine has been making a squealing noise. Took it in and they said they fixed it but it did the same thing this morning when I started up this morning. I talked to the salesman and he said bring it in and they will fix it. Anyone know what the problem could be. Thanks!!

Belt tensioner or serp belt would be my guess...That, or the alternator.......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/uhoh2.gif

I have a 2003 2500hd had same problem. Replaced belt and noise was gone. Oh I had aprox 40,500 when the noise started and thought it might be the alternator but have found in past belts get glazed on back side and a little loose.

I had the same problem, twice. Both times it was the belt.

Mine dose the same thing only when its cold... The belt would be the fix or just wait for it to warm up and put it off... Thats what I have been doing
