Production of the NV5600 transmission is ended as of January 31, 2005.

Dodge is replacing the NV5600 with a Getrag 6speed. New Venture/MTM lost the contract to supply Daimler-Chrysler with transmissions. New Venture itself was a now dissolved partnership between Daimler-Chrysler and GM. The transmission assembly plant in Muncie, Indiana, is once again part of the GM Powertrain Group. The plant is currently under contract to supply GM with NV4500 and NV3500 transmissions for several more years. The transmission plant is now known as Manual Transmissions of Muncie LLC.

If you are looking to buy a brand new NV4500, don't wait to long as the prices are climbing due to production cuts related to the loss of the DMC contract.

Getrags will be going into Jeep Wranglers as well. Hopefully these will be far better units than the Getrags GM and Dodge were using in their trucks that were so bad that GM and Dodge were virtually forced to form NVG. Dodge ran a Getrag behind the Cummins until mid 1993 when they switched to the NV4500.

Yes, hopefully Getrag makes a good product. Would be really a shame for that well known german transmission company to deliver a bad product.
Getrag has lost many contracts to ZF, so I am surprised that they deliver now all the new 6 speeds for DC.

The new g56 that replaces the nv5600 is not a getrag.

I believe its made by Magal of Brazil.
