I beleive that should go to the stud on your hood for ground? Is that your truck or what?

Helps ground the cab.
Take it off and watch all of the weird sh*t happen.
Just kidding don't take it off, will cause big problems.

OK which one in the pic. The wire mesh one or the black one. Black one is for grounding the hood.

It is in fact the ground for the hood. Must not mean much if it was never secured.

If it is truly the hood ground, it is intended to help reduce interference on the AM/FM radio reception. It makes more of a difference on distant staions and AM.

My 94 GMC had an under hood light, my 07 Classic that was more $$$, no light :(

exactly it will help the ground plane for the antenna and also used as a ground for hood lights. But the ground plane part is more important thats why its heavy cable.
