I am looking to install E rated, 285/75/16s on my 04 D-max. Everywhere I look, it recomends to put 285s on 10 inch rims. I plan on towing some pretty decent loads (aprox 10K lbs)

I believe my stock rims are only 8 inch.

Is there such thing as a 16X10 inch rim out there that looks like the stock rims? I am not into flashy looking rims, just need good rims that will support bigger tires.

thanks in advance

You can mount those tires on your 8" wheels and never have to worry.....:)

Is stock 8", I thought it was 6.5 on all duramaxs? Might want to make sure of that.....check your driver door. I could be wrong. But you should still be fine with 6.5" IMO, just keep the air pressure up.

Stock PYO's are 6.5" wide. You can put 285's on them but they will wear faster in the center of the tire if you run 80psi in them.....

Gents, I apologize..the stock rims are indeed 6.5"

Will i have any trouble from the installer getting 285's mounted? (for safety reasons)

if wanted to go to wider rims, does anyone know of a GM stock look alike rim that is 8 or 10 wide?

you should get any trouble out of them. I have 305/75/16s on my stock rims, which are wider than the 285, 11.6 vs. 12" (that is what came on the truck when I got it). As long as you keep the tire pressure up they will be fine. I'm probably going to drop back to 285s or maybe even 265s when this set wears out.

I run 285's on 10" wide wheels. I also tow an over 10K 5'er. I've had no problems with them. I did crank the bars and trimmed some of the front valance. The trimming and cranking is dependent on the wheel offset.
