: What'd you spend to install your CST lift?
CalDirt 02-05-2005, 03:51 PM Getting ready to have my 6" CST lift installed and wondering what I should be looking at price-wise to be sure I'm not getting ripped.
I've decided not to install it myself and to pay a professional.
It's a 6" CST with dual front shocks and 315/70 setup. Nothing really esoteric - just a basic setup on the truck below in my sig.
Any thoughts on what a fair price for the labor is guys?
Thanks.
bigwhitehd 02-05-2005, 06:17 PM I would expect to pay anywhere from 250-500 dollars depending on where you take it.
3500dmax 02-05-2005, 06:37 PM Maybe in your neck of the woods but out here in CA try more along the lines of anywhere from $500 to $1000. Many shops will also charge a higher fee to install a lift they do not normally sell.
bigwhitehd 02-05-2005, 07:18 PM If you pay a 1000 dollars that is rediculous, wow, your gettin riped off bad, i am moving to cali to charge people that if that is the case, wow
3500dmax 02-05-2005, 09:45 PM Yes $1000 is alot but it's not uncommon for some shops to charge that kind of money. Whether your willing to pay that is another story! Labor is expensive out here due to the cost of living...a fair price for a CST install is $500-600 including mounting, balance and alignment but again some shops will charge more. I wouldn't trust a backyard mechanic or a shop that only wanted to charge me $250 for install.
CalDirt 02-06-2005, 03:30 PM Thanks guys - I think I was quoted ~$600 so I feel better about this.
I think the biggest reason that labor is more out here (speaking as an employer that personally pays for it) is the bleeding heart liberals, like Barbara Boxer, that want to provide every benefit on earth to every person in the state, no matter how little they contribute to the "system". That and the cost of medical insurance.
DirtAndSand 02-06-2005, 05:08 PM $600 is decent out there, in San Jose area it was $700-900. Make sure to look at their references and talk with someone who has used their installers!!!
NorCal 2500HD 02-06-2005, 08:33 PM whose doing the install????
CalDirt 02-07-2005, 07:42 AM I'm taking it to Full Throttle Suspension in Fresno.
NorCal 2500HD 02-07-2005, 11:18 AM good deal......they are a good bunch of guys down there and know what they are doing....enjoy your lift!!!!
olskool53 02-07-2005, 06:38 PM $600 Is a Great price! Here in CT guys are getting between $1500-$3000 just for labor! A local 4x4 shop quoted me $3500 to install his 4" rancho kit or $2000 to install my 6" fabtek! I Know its BS! Im waiting until the spring so I can do it !
radvans 02-08-2005, 09:20 PM How much are you paying for the kit, no install?
CalDirt 02-09-2005, 03:14 AM The CST kit is about $1700. Then all the other crap to actually make the kit work (ie: shocks, hoops, etc) will run me another $2500 or so. I try not to think about it too much because that's on top of the $2300 I just dropped for tires and wheels. ):h
BTW: CST turned me on to SoCal SuperTrucks today. Been working with Casey (he's the owner) and he's pretty on the ball. It's a nice change from calling some of the shops that seem to be run by 19 year-olds, going on 12. I have no problem with youth, or profanity for that matter, but it doesn't exactly build confidence when you're spending this kind of dough, and call a business and they start using cuss words as colorful adjectives in the first 5 minutes. I mean sh_t! What's amazing is that there is a market for those kind of jokers - they're the same ones that think every truck should get an 11" lift and 48" tires or it "aint' a truck".
chaps 02-09-2005, 03:27 AM u can't fit 48" tires with an 11 inch lift, and unless a truck has 12" of lift (and is marine blue metallic) its not worth taking the time to look at..........:muahaha:
just kidding, I agree that alot of the shops I have talked to and dealt with aren't very reasurring (sp?), everyone thinks they know best, and the lifts they sell are the best, and that everyone else doesn't know their sh!t. And you gotta watch out for those 19 year olds.....good thing im 20 going on 21!
CalDirt 02-10-2005, 03:32 PM keep in mind that what worries me about the 19 year-olds is that I once was 19. I sure as hell wouldn't want me at 19 working on my truck now. ;)
chaps 02-10-2005, 06:26 PM LOL I know what your saying! Sometimes I act very mature for my age, like when towing to the desert, but once im un-hitched.......:evillol: I usually behave until I see some furd go down drags......then I have no choice but to be 19, take a run and put him in his place, and im sure at any age you can appreciate that!! I treat this truck a bit better than my first truck......97 silverado,6 inch lift, 35's, 2 trannies, 1 motor, 3 set's of 4.56 gears in about 40,000 miles. And this being my first diesel and all, I was a bit scared of it at first, but thanks to everyone here at dieselplace.com im pretty comfortable now, still lots and lots to learn tho!!!
