I've heard several people mention they are running without a cat, but what do I replace it with if I pull it?
Is there a downpipe that connects the exhaust output to the muffler intake?
ANyone have a part number and/or mfgr or source?
I've heard that the pipe from a 2003 D/A would work because GM didn't add the cat till 2004 - is that right?
Thanks.

You can use an LB7 front pipe, but for about the same amount of money, you can get an MBRP in stainless from several of the vendors here. It's four inches in diameter as well, where the factory is only 3.5"

Caldirt- The MBRP front-pipe is a direct bolt on and replaces your existing front-pipe which holds the CAT. They come in either aluminized or stainless. Check HERE (http://www.performancetruckproducts.com/store/agora.cgi?cart_id=7620264.14088*Q-3DY1&product=Chevy/GMC-Exhaust) for pricing.

MBRP's pipe works well, and so does dynomax's front pipe...Both have the flange making your life easy

Thanks guys.
How long does this install take, assuming you're a guy without a lift rack, just crawlin' under the truck in your driveway?

My buddy removed my stock system and installed the complete mbrp system in about 30-45 mins....I took out the passenger side fender well and jacked the truck up in the rear on the frame to get the suspension to sag....we also pre built the system b4 he installed it to see how everything fit together.......

So NorCal, is it a requirement to remove your fender to install this pipe? I already have my catback installed - just need to replace this one pipe from the engine to the muffler intake.

I was able to reach in to the bolt on the clamp without removing the fender liner. It's a little tight but it can be done fairly easy without removing it.

Yeah you just can't move the ratchet as much.. Not too hard though..
