asking this for a fellow 6.5er he took his truck in and gm says needs pump. he is in the window for warranty work yet gm says the tag is missing off the pump and not wanting to do the warranty. what can be done about this. anyone got any ideas. i'll send him a link to this thread so he can battle gm with it. I guess that was a pretty blunt answer but I often find that if you have one dealer refusing to do warranty work and you tell another dealer about it stuff seems to get done faster.

Go to an honest dealer.that's a good one, when was the last time anyone here ever found one anywhere in north america. or especially in vancouver bc area. Ed

Why no tag?
There is no likely circumstance that would cause the tag to separate from the pump.
Something fishy...

The tag is pop riveted onto the back of the injection pump. This tag is really hard to see with out some disassembly. Special Policy #00064G is the "secret warranty" bulletin. It CLEARLY states the conditions for covering the injection pump 11 years/120,000 miles transferable warranty.
They now have to fill out a work sheet with all kinds of tests before they can do the work. This dealer may not have anyone to do the work?

This could be the case. I bet there is not very many dealerships that have a mechanic trained or experienced with the old 6.5 engines anymore. Instead of admiting this is what the issue is they are handing out a runaround instead of pointing the customer to another dealer.

I've found that most GM dealers don't know squat about the 6.5, but what i did find was a Buick/GMC/Hummer dealer and they have Hummer people that do know something about the 6.5 engine. I think if you can find a GM dealer that does multi-makes that includes the Hummer you'll find people who can actually help you. Otherwise they seem to be Dura-Max only.

x2. wtf's up with that anyway?
i have a gas leak in my Impala, the dealer i bought it from wants to charge me diagnostics fee. its under warranty and they know it. a different dealer (whos service manager i contacted - friend of a friend), and then dropped my friends name said 'if they want to charge you its unethical, tell them that and if they still do come to me and we will fix it." so, we'll see....

If it were me I'd say screw the first dealer and go to the second one you talked to. The first one had the chance to do the warranty work and blew it. Leo
