Has anyone come up with a way to use the fill nozzles at truck stops? The nozzle OD won't fit our filler necks.
Are all truck stop nozzle ODs the same... 1 3/8"?

would it be as simple as buying a fill neck for an 06 truck. My 06 have the larger fill neck

I haven't studied my fill up hole, but can you remove the fill up hole portion then get a hole saw to drill it out larger?

I fill up with high flows 50% of the time or so. They always fit in my tank all over Cali? Never had an issue with them not fiitting in my 05 or 08.

One of the aftermarket tank companies...Transfer flow...makes an upgrade kit for the LB7's to accept the larger pumps.

Check out their website.

RonJT,

Yep, I know about the $200 'solution' from TF.... looking for a cost effective solution for an '04 without hacking up my truck.

You can take the stock filler neck off and punch out the inside,it's a simple job. But that piece helps the foaming associated with fill ups. You'll fit the nozzle but be prepared for a wet shoe.

I have the Transflow Filler neck. It's BETTER then the punched out stock neck but not by a lot. You cannot fill up with the big nozzle wide open I don't care what you have unless you don't care about fuel running down the side of your truck or yet anouther wet shoe.

I have a tool box in the back of my truck and what I do is wrap a rag around the nozzle and have at it. Yes the rag gets wet but the fuel runs down the inside of the composite fender so I don't care. Then I slowly top off

I use the big nozzle with no problems on my 05, I only put it to first click though.

Sometimes it spills down the side, and sometimes it doesn't. Depends on the pump I suppose.

Sorry for the false start.... I should have put the year (2004- LB7) in the title.
I am aware that the fill neck was made larger in later model years. I am looking for a cost effective solution to fitting the truck stop fill nozzles in my LB7.

Thanks in advance.

I don't understand the some nozzles fit some don't but I've seen two different sized big nozzles also. In my stock filler neck there was a station with the cheapest fuel had one of the ones where I could only 'stick the head in' Couldn't go deep. :D

So I went TF

I hear ya tho some pumps foam like a bitch some aren't bad.

I am not sure how you are going to do it unless you can see how the LLY's vent the air.

Maybe there is a way there. All the TF kit does is have a larger inlet for the pumps and they have a side hose that allows air to escape back to the inlet...versus the hose within a hose on the LB7.

I installed the Transfer flow long ago. With the large nozzle I only use the slowest setting, works fine. It may not be cheap, but it works.

Im interested if anyone else has come up with any more ideas. because most of the time, Im pulling a trailer and trying to fit in the car section is a PITA.

I read something in the Do It Yourself section but i believe it call for drilling a new vent in your tank.
