i want to replace that pain in the ass straight zerk fitting with a 90 degree one. anyone know the thread size? i went to NAPA, and without unscrewing the old one and bringing it in, they were of no help. thanks.

Just went through the same thing.

The ones I got were 6mm.

Replacing the hard to reach zerks with 90 deg fittings is a good solution. Another approach is to use a right angle adapter on the grease gun. I have one with a swivel that allows it to be adjusted for any angle and reach all the OEM zerks... similar to this one...

Have the same adapter. Still have a hard time.

90's are the way to go. IMHO

If your talking about ball joint zerks, I don't think you can get them out, they look to be pressrd in. I'm going to change the one on the idler arm box the next time I lube. that is if it isn't pressed in.

Thought about doing that also. But then I thought about what I am good at ... breaking threads, crossthreaed, and stripping threads. Got one of these. Put a right angle zerk one the end and your done. Got another one with a straight zerk and I get all the zerks without taking anything off. Harbor Freight has them, and I found mine in Autozone

I put a couple of 90 degree zerks in. Was amazed that the factory zerks were only in by a single turn or so. If you screw the 90 degree zerks in too far there won't be enough clearance to get the grease gun head on the zerk. It can be a trick getting the zerk pointing the direction you want it without screwing it in too far.
