Hey guys just wanted to see if you have any thoughts or previous experience with stuff like this before I tear into my truck tomorrow. My trucks been acting a little off the past two days. I got into it yesterday and it changed moved my seat all the way back and the radio came on instead of the CD player. Then while driving it made a noise like it had a loose battery cable, so i checked the cables but they were tight and fine. Then tonight my truck was acting like it wasnt processing signals, i would step on the gas and the truck would do nothing for a few seconds and then suddenly do exactly what I had wanted it to. Trans shifts fine and the motor runs like normal, no weird noises or smells, just a delayed response. I still have the crappy ACDELCO batteries and figure they need a change anyway, but my voltage shows up fine on the dash. Any thoughts on where to start? Thanks guys

Weak batteries will give all sorts of weird problems! If they are original, I'd swap them out. Remember - voltage shows up on the dash fine when it's running because the alternator is pumping juice out too. Take it to autozone and have them load test the batteries. IF they are from 04, just replace them, they'll be done soon anyways.

Thats what I figured. I got my buddy bringin his tester so we can load test the batteries. I was just wondering if anyone had experienced the same. I tested the truck with the motor off and it still shows up fine but who knows. Thanks for the input I really appreciate it!

Hey, no problem! I hate weird electrical issues, and they piss me off until I can find out what they are!! I chased starting and idling issues around on a 99 5.7 Tahoe for a week before I figured out it was a battery. Cranked fine, tested fine, had a hairline crack through the center of the terminal and was loosing voltage while cranking and wouldn't take anything over 12v = 12v all the time, not the 14 I need to charge! It was weird, glad I got it fixed though.

Yeah I hate crap like this. I like doin performance stuff, just hate tracking down stupid little failures haha.

Alright batteries read out fine, but I did get a U1024, which is for the TCM I know but where the hell do I start to fix things??

Sounds like the diesel gremlins are after you.

When they checked the batteries did they disconnect them--? They are wired together and have to be isolated to test them. I am betting that you have a bad battery!

yes they were both disconnected. my friends family owns a trucking company and he knows all about testing stuff and he said they have weird ass electrical issues when one or a few cells go bad and you hit a bump or something so it can be intermittent. im figuring that the trans code was old at this point, maybe from when i put my new NSBU on or when i threw a 1093 from not having my pump on haha.

Check the groun cable on the truck itself, maybe rust or paint preventing a good ground to the frame or engine block. Try using a booster cable from the neg on the battery to another location on the frame and see. Try one battery at a time or both at the same time.

New batteries are in, problem solved. Thanks guys!
