I tried several differant ones on the LLY and I am running the Predator now. I think Edge will be the one to have when they get the bugs out, but the Predator seems to be the best bang for the buck right now.

I'm running the Predator 40HP/100Tq tune and am very happy with it. Most posts on this site regarding the new Predator are pretty positive. Drove up the 395 last weekend (from SoCal to the Sierras), cruise control at 80, the thing never even downshifted when I hit the grades. 19.5 hand calculated MPG on the freeway. Not too shabby for a big ol' truck!!!

Just curious if anyone has tried the Hypertech programmer. I haven't seen much discussion on it.

BTW who has the best price on the Predator? Best I've seen is $325 on a couple of ebay stores.

My dad has the Hypertech. He seems to like it. Haven't had a chance to compare the two. The Predator can read and clear codes. IMHO itnjust has more bang for the buck.

According to Hypertechs website their PPIII can read and clear codes as well.

I'm running the Edge with the Attitude and very pleased. Have had no problem's, only trying to get traction.

I just installed my Edge w/Attitude today. All I can say is H*** S***. I didn't think it would throw you that hard back into the seat. Today was definitely not the day to figure out mileage.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

I installed the Trippin Overhead Mount and that fit like a glove and looks clean. Great work on those Guy. SWEET!

Will be playing more with the Juice but so far no problems with it.

If the programmers for the LLY is like the LB7, here is what the difference is:
Predator can reset speed limiter to 125, Hypertech can't. Predator can do live scanning, Hypertech can't. The predator feels like it has more bottom end and more top end as well.

Good information. Thanks!

One more question. Can the Predator easily return the truck to stock programming for trips to the dealer? I found this to be necessary when I had a Hypertech for my '99 Z71.

I've had my Predator for over a month, working great. No complaints. One word of caution - it's hard on tires!

Just installed the Predator 60 HP tune in my '05 Dmax tonight. Any idea how long it takes the Allison tranny to return to normal?

To say the performance increase is "noticable", is a major understatement. I didn't expect this much with the 60 HP tune, but I'm not complaining!

I have both E/A and Predator. I like the Edge because of the attitude however, the Predator work's better!!!! The Edge is horrible if it is cold out! Makes lot's of different noises. Go for the Predator!

Where can I get more info on the Predator? Just wondering how many different tunes are available with it, can you switch between them on the fly, and also does anyone know at what point are you causing danger to the Allison with the added power? Thanks, Shaun.

you can look at the diablosport homepage then link to the predator for the dmax, lots of info on there or just search predator on here.

My 1.5 cents, Im still working on the other .5.

I love the edge, I can play with it on the fly and it makes the truck move faster than the fords in northern california.
I had an LB7 before I traded for my LLY(frick). The edge on the LB7 rocked. Made huge differences, like 20mpg at 90 mph between Sacramento and Las Vegas, dry with no wind. LLY edge, not so good. The attitude is nice. Bought predetaor yesterday, should arrive next week.
If I had to do it all over agian, Id still get them both. Just to have the "on the fly" adjustability.

By the way, a word on price. If you have a 4 Wheel Parts Performance close to you, take a print out of the lowest internet price you can find into there store and tell them to beet it. It worked for me.

Shaun,
You can't switch to different settings on the fly with programmers. The Allison is limited by it's 5th gear, about 680tq.
ND Duramax,
What issues did you have with the Superchips, Hypertech and Edge?

Anyone running the Banks Six Gun? I have heard good things, but no one posts about Banks, Whats Up?

Scotty Seelen

I'm running the Banks 6-gun on an LB7, and couldn't be more pleased. As far as power, level 3 is close to the Hypertech on it's 96hp setting. Level 4 is very close to the Bullydog Powerpup on it's 95hp setting. Level 5 runs with the Edge with attitude. I'm sure some guys running it on the LLY will chime in.

I just installed the power pup at level three and so far, it is great. I know I'll need to back it down to tow the boat, but I keep the box behind the rear seat and I can do it when I latch onto the boat.

I like the pup for price, ability to correct for tire size and power given by the tune. I also like the fact that I can return it to stock without having to remove any equipment. I dislike having to go buy a pyrometer (egt) gauge which I have not and may not do.

Come on, surely somebody out there likes the pup too?

Ive got the hypertech on level 2 and like it so far. No Problems, No Codes. Difference was very noticable. After i install my guage pod i will program level 3 and check boost/egt's. I also noticed it smoking now that the summer fuel is out. Just a hint of black smoke when ya tromp on it.

Predator here, no problems. I dropped my truck off tonight for it's first service (this one is free) at the dealership. I had the stock tune downloaded in about a minute and a half. With 4 tune levels, it has anything and everything I could want or need. I run the 65 HP tune, that's plenty for me.

Can you run both the Edge and the Predator? I like features from both. I have problems with Edge in the higher settings so would love to keep the Attitude functions and then add some power and adjust the speedo with the Predator. Any advice?

Yes, you can.

I run a PPE HOT Xcellerator and I have never had 1 code thrown or any weird behavior from the truck...... well other than a SUPER touchy throttle pedal on the highest level and the wheels squeal pretty easy, but I would highly reccomend it. Very pricey though at almost a grand.
The only drags is you have to reprogram every time you want to change your settings so your buddies know what you're up to.
