I'm looking at purchasing a Headlight Booster Harness with a set of four Philips 70/100 watt Rally bulbs from Diesel Services Group (http://www.dieselservices.com/webstore/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=278&CFID=295227&CFTOKEN=43646103) in Canada for $179 USD shipped.
I am concerned about what kind of life I will get out of the Rally's and also if they may be too bright while towing due to the toungue weight of my trailer. Philips makes a stock wattage bulb called the Vision Plus which seem to be getting good reviews and is said to be 50% brighter than a standard 9005/9006 halogen bulb but the best price I can find is about the same as the Rally bulbs from DSG.
Would the lower wattage bulb tend to last longer or should I just buy the Rally's and hope I don't cause any accidents?
Any knowlegable advice would be appreciated

It's pretty well-known that the headlight wiring in Chevy trucks from the 90's is weak and limits light output - the booster harness bypasses the stock wires and provides power directly from the alternator output stud. I don't mind spending some $ to fix Chevrolets bad design if it allows me to see better down the road.

My Phillips Rallye bulbs have lasted over 3 years - one LB finally failed just as I started looking for the replacements. Pretty good life as far as I am concerned. Too bad they are so hard to find.

The wattage of the bulb won't affect its life one bit. Since the harness is reducing the voltage loss to the bulb you are running a true 12V+ all the time. Voltage reduces a light bulb's expected life. If you are worried about the life of them hold the 2 side by side and see if one has a larger/thicker filament then the other(wire inside the light bulb). The thicker the filament the more the light bulb will handle in theory.

When I could get the Rally bulbs, I sold a lot of them with my wiring kit. I'm sad to see Phillips discontinued them. That said, the life was definitely shorter (3-4 months to 1year) with these, and output fell off sharply near the end of their life. I now have the Phillips Premium which are pretty darn good also.
