Maybe buying a 05 2500 Dmax shortbox - comes with 16 inch wheels HUH??? Totally ridiculous if you ask me. I currently own an 03 SS with 20's - how large can I go on these wheels without lifting the truck any recommendations from anyone please - wheels, tires etc???

You can go up to 285's on 16's with no lift, minimal cranking of the torsion bars.

That's fine as long as you don't hit a bump!!! You need sidewalls to help absorb road shock when the truck is loaded.

Yes I know they are two different trucks - I would like to put larger tires on because the 16's look like donuts on a locomotive - in one word - F O O L I S H
So will I be able to put 20's on this truck yes or no ? Thanks...

I've seen 1 w/irocks and 20's it looked great. I run 315 Goodyear mtr's on the stockrims ,(too narow) I cranked the torsion within 1/4 " of the end of the bolt, it bounced alot untill i put the rancho 9000's on .Trimmed the fender skirt and tied it back as well as the brake cable and trimmed the air dam in the front . My new T/R bumper clears by a mile and they only scrub a little if i'm turned just wrong and hit a hard bump going fast or realy in a bind. I've been thinking about 18's and 325's.

i have 20's on my truck with the bfg allterrain 285 55 r20 the tire is new this year. i like then alot. even with the tbars cranked there was a small amount of rubing. i had to trim the bottom plastic on the front bumper and pull back the inner fender alittle. it real wasn't much but i hate when it rubed. but after that little bit of work it doesn't rub any more

I think 20's are fine.........as long as you have a 38" or larger tire wrapped around it! I think that putting 20's with low profile tires on one of these trucks takes the "heavy duty" right out of it. If stock tires on 16's looks F O O L I S H then my 39.5's on 16's must kill you! Hate to say it but it is possible that big rims is a trend that might not be around forever, once everything is coming stock with 20"s and 22's they will be old news. Just venting a bit I guess, its your truck so do what u think looks good.
