I took my truck in for the tailgate recall and had the belt replaced as I had 114,000 miles on the truck. They charged me an extra 50 dollars because the mechanic said a motor mount has to be removed to change the belt. I've never heard anyone mention this before. Does anyone know for sure? My truck is a 2001 Gmc with the Duramax.

Same with my '02, even with 2 alternators. A 5 minute job.

You got screwed... Have them show you the motor mount. Total BS.
I just got back from the dealer and they admited that they don't have to remove a motor mount and they will refund me the difference. The person who had written up the order doesn't work there anymore so we couldn't question her about it. While talking to the service manager about Duramax problems they have only had 1 come back for injector replacement but several for injector pumps, mine included at 85,000. He also stated that they have had problems with lift pumps also. I mentioned that there is not a seperate electric lift pump on a Duramax but he was positive that there was. I offered to go double or nothing on the refund that I have coming and to bring in the mechanic and settle the question right then. He got a funny look on his face and declined. I really liked that dealer, it is close and they did a good job on my injector pump but any future work will go to Eric. I live in Michigan about 200 miles from his dealership.

the bad name is from the managers and advisors. Had my truck in of the 2nd time in a week for a rough idle. never looked and the regulator graph which is the issue at hand. called the tech direct he told me the service manager told him to scan for codes and up dates and he said he did as asked. i asked him straigh up how much time spent on my truck oh he siad 45 min or so. The funny thing my wife went by the dealer at lunch called me said the truck had not moved all day. I called and the advisor said oh he is looking at it as we speek. He has done a flow test balance test ect. When i talked to the tech he had done only the balanec test. I pucked up the truck with NPF. Advisor gone and service manage gone. Milage in 36183 and same for out. To bad my milage was 36153 it never moved. I was told the tech drove 45 min and the service manager 45min. I would figure in traffic I should have had 20 miles plus added. My hour meter was the same as when I dorped it off. so this is how the bad name is started..... I still have a rough idle and a broken door pannel that " is on back order" patrick
