when i start my truck i get a lot of blue,coolant is good, oil level is good, once the truck warms up its fine makes good power, help

Search smoke colors on here. I believe there is an old post somewhere that has what the different color smokes may mean.

Just sounds like a cold diesel in the winter. My 03' does it too.

i've never seen it smoke this bad, it fills the whole street, like an old 6.5. i did just install a new turbo. could be more cold air on startup, anyone think it coulod be a injecter issue, had them changed 70000 kms ago

Could be injectors, sounds like glow plugs to me. Does it hesitate at all when it's puking smoke?

Mine does the same when it's cold out. There was a discussion about this before and someone gave a very good explanation about why it smokes at start-up , search for it. It wasn't too long ago.

maybe glow plugs? i got a letter from GM about mine, do some searching on here and see what you can come up with.

no if it's blue then it is oil so it could be something in your turbo.

If it was something in the turbo than it wouldn't go away when it warmed up. I get blue smoke from my 03' when it's really cold out and it's not oil. Give it a good smell. It could be the glow plugs but you havn't said that it starts hard. I would say if it is as bad as you say than it could be injectors. some times when the injectors go you will see your oil level go up, but not always.

mine was doing that white/blue smoke on cold start 20 deg or below and would smoke for 1 or 2 miles then ok It ended up being a bad battery glow plugs would overload it and not warm up some of the plugs two new batterys and has not done it since easy fix for mine 01 with 195k good luck on yours
